Product information "IKA UTTD control Pharma Solution Disperser Set, DIS-300-S-M Dissolver Mixing Vessel, 400 to 8,000 rpm, 0010013297"
Pharmacopoeia tests in accordance with USP 905 or PhEur 2.9.40 require the uniform comminution and dissolution of tablets and capsules before the actual analysis begins, and it is precisely here that different batches present different cleaning and contamination risks. The UTTD control Pharma Solution combines the controllable ULTRA-TURRAX Tube Drive P control with DIS-300-S-M single-use dissolver vessels, which crush and dissolve tablets in various solvents without the need to clean the vessel between samples.
Dissolver mixing vessel for a 300-millilitre batch volume
The set contains the DIS-300-S-M mixing vessel with a volume of 300 millilitres in a pack of 10, fitted with a dissolver disc that ensures thorough dissolution of tablets and capsules in various solvents. The hermetically sealable disposable vessel serves simultaneously as a mixing, storage and transport container; the addition of media or sample withdrawal takes place via a pierceable membrane in the lid. For comminution and subsequent dissolution, the set thus supports the preparatory steps for standardised pharmacopoeia procedures such as USP 905 and PhEur 2.9.40. As each sample is processed in its own vessel, which is disposed of after use, the carry-over of active ingredient residues between different formulations is prevented – a point that must be regularly documented during the validation of test methods.
P-control drive with programmable cycles
The set is driven by the ULTRA-TURRAX Tube Drive P control with an OLED display, a speed range of 400 to 8,000 revolutions per minute in 10-rpm increments and a deviation of just 3 per cent. Time, energy and volume can be programmed as test conditions and saved for recurring batch tests; a turbo button allows for brief periods of more intensive operation. A USB-B interface connects the drive to a computer, for example to document test runs. Measuring 122 x 54 x 178 millimetres and weighing 1.3 kilograms, the drive fits on any laboratory bench and is powered by a 24 V DC power supply at 1,500 mA with a power consumption of 36 watts.
Typical applications
- Preliminary crushing and disintegration of tablets and capsules prior to dissolution or content tests
- Pharmaceutical quality control involving recurring, cross-batch testing
- Analytical work requiring the processing of small sample quantities without cross-contamination between batches
- Research into new formulations using different solvents for each batch
As each DIS-300-S-M vessel is disposed of after a single use, there is no need for cleaning between tests, which is an advantage when handling high sample throughput.
Selection guide: Pharma Solution or other UTTD sets
The dissolver mixing vessel in this set is designed for tablet comminution. If, on the other hand, the aim is to homogenise tissue samples from life sciences research, the UTTD control Life Science Solution with DT-20 dispersing vessels is more suitable; for IVD tissue samples from the surgical workflow, the UTTD basic Tissue Solution with the simpler drive without P control is recommended. Anyone wishing to reorder their own Dissolver mixing vessels in larger volumes or different pack sizes can opt for the standalone ULTRA-TURRAX Tube Drive P control drive or the ready-to-use Tube Drive P control Workstation as an alternative, should additional stirring and dispersing vessels be required for other tasks.
