Anyone setting up a new Tube-Drive system needs not only the drive unit but also the appropriate consumables; otherwise, the unit will be left without any operational accessories on the very first day. The Tube Drive P control Workstation combines the drive’s control unit with a basic set of disposable mixing tubes and accessories, so that stirring, dispersing and grinding in sealed tubes can begin straight out of the box. This is ideal for laboratories using Tube Drive technology for the first time or wishing to set up a second, fully equipped workstation.

More powerful drive with OLED display and turbo button

Compared with the basic ULTRA-TURRAX Tube Drive model, the P-control unit operates with a power input of 36 watts and an output power of 28 watts across a speed range of 400 to 8,000 revolutions per minute, adjustable in 10-rpm increments and with a deviation of just 3 per cent. An OLED display shows the speed and timer; the direction of rotation can be reversed via a multilingual menu; and a turbo button allows for brief, more intense runs up to the upper speed limit. Test conditions for time, energy and volume can be programmed and saved in a parameter library, making recurring protocols reproducible without having to reset the values for each run. A USB-B interface connects the device to a computer; the appropriate USB-A-to-B cable is included.

What’s included in the set

In addition to the drive unit, the workstation comes with three ST-20 stirring vessels, one DT-20 dispersing vessel, glass and stainless steel beads for BMT tubes, a removal hook, a plastic tube for emptying, and a USB A-to-B cable. The set therefore covers the three basic functions of stirring, dispersing and grinding with beads, without the need to order additional tubes separately before running the first experiments. The ST-20 vessels are suitable for simple stirring and mixing tasks with a volume of 20 millilitres; the DT-20 vessel features a rotor-stator assembly for finer dispersion results; and the loose beads can be inserted into separate BMT vessels as soon as the need for bead milling arises.

Connection to the Labworldsoft laboratory equipment software is also possible via the USB-B interface, for example to document run logs for later analysis or qualification records.

Those who already maintain their own stock of mixing vessels or specifically require only a particular type of tube can save on the consumables supplied with this workstation by opting for the ULTRA-TURRAX Tube Drive P control drive unit alone.
