LAUDA Hydro H 16 Water Bath, 25 to 100 °C, up to 13.9 L, Bath Dimensions 400 x 245 mm, L002902

Product information "LAUDA Hydro H 16 Water Bath, 25 to 100 °C, up to 13.9 L, Bath Dimensions 400 x 245 mm, L002902"

If several Erlenmeyer flasks or a row of beakers are to be temperature-controlled at the same time, the size of the bath opening becomes the decisive factor. Measuring 400 x 245 millimetres, the LAUDA Hydro H 16 has a significantly wider opening than the smaller models in the series, whilst maintaining the same bath depth of 165 millimetres. The bath volume ranges from 7.5 to 13.9 l; as with all Hydro water baths, the operating temperature range is from 25 to 100 °C with a temperature stability of ± 0.1 K.

Wide bath opening for multiple vessels

The 400 x 245 millimetre bath opening accommodates several narrow vessels side by side without them touching one another. With a depth of 165 millimetres, the bath is particularly suitable for shallower vessel shapes such as beakers, smaller Erlenmeyer flasks or sample bottles, which do not need to be fully submerged. The maximum heating power is 1.5 kilowatts, which is higher than that of the smaller Hydro H 8.

Timer, alarms and digital setpoint adjustment

Operation is via a TFT colour display showing temperatures in °C or °F and a membrane keypad with clear symbols. Temperature values can be set in increments of 0.1 °C; a 1-point temperature controller then takes over regulation. The timer supports three application-specific time functions in hours and minutes. In the event of a water shortage, over- or under-temperature, or a sensor break or short circuit, the unit triggers a visual and audible alarm; the trigger points are adjustable within a range of ± 10 K.

Robust construction in stainless steel

The bath body, cover frame, sieve base and heating element are made of stainless steel; the bath vessel has a drain tap for draining the water. The double-walled lid is domed on the inside and provides thermal insulation; as a result, condensation drips down the dome rather than running back into the open vessels. The lid and sieve tray are included as part of the scope of delivery.

Handling in everyday laboratory use

If several vessels are placed on a single surface, it is worth checking their arrangement to ensure that heat can circulate evenly around each vessel and that none of them touch one another. The drain tap makes changing the water easier, even though the larger volume of up to 13.9 l means slightly more water needs to be drained than with the smaller Hydro H 8. Weighing around 14 kilograms, the bath can still be placed on the laboratory bench by a single person.

Typical applications

  • Simultaneous temperature control of several beakers or small Erlenmeyer flasks
  • Routine experiments in chemical process engineering involving multiple vessels
  • Preparation and sample processing in research and development laboratories
  • Screening tests with a consistently repeated temperature

Selection guide: is a depth of 165 millimetres sufficient?

If you only need a few small vessels, the more compact Hydro H 8 with its small 245 x 200 millimetre opening will suffice. If, with the same opening, greater depth is required for taller vessels, the Hydro H 22 - with a bath depth of 225 millimetres (instead of 165 millimetres) and a volume of up to 20.3 l, is the right choice. For an even wider opening of 600 x 245 millimetres, in which many vessels can be arranged in a row, the Hydro H 24 is ideal. The largest model in the range, the Hydro H 41, holds up to 37.9 l for large batches.
