Product information "LAUDA Hydro H 8 Water Bath, 25 to 100 °C, up to 7 L, Bath Dimensions 245 x 200 mm, L002901"
Anyone who regularly needs to bring individual test tubes, small sample vessels or a single round-bottomed flask up to a specific temperature in the laboratory does not need a large water bath, but rather one that takes up little space and heats up quickly. With a bath volume of 3.8 to 7.0 l, the LAUDA Hydro H 8 is the most compact model in the Hydro series. The operating temperature range extends from 25 to 100 °C with a temperature stability of ± 0.1 K, making applications right up to the boiling point possible.
Small bath, short heating time
The bath opening measures 245 x 200 millimetres with a depth of 165 millimetres. The maximum heating power of 1 kilowatt is tailored to this bath size, ensuring the water reaches the required temperature quickly. For routines involving just a few vessels, such as thawing small samples, incubating individual tubes or temperature-controlling calibration solutions, the Hydro H 8 is the most economical choice within the range in terms of both purchase price and electricity consumption.
Operation via TFT colour display
A TFT colour display shows both the actual and setpoint values simultaneously; the temperature display can be switched between °C and °F. Setpoints are adjusted in 0.1 °C increments via a membrane keypad with clear symbols; a 1-point temperature controller then maintains the temperature at a constant level. A timer set in hours and minutes allows three application-specific time functions to be programmed, enabling the bath to run unattended for a specified duration. In the event of low water level, over- or under-temperature, or in the event of a sensor failure or short circuit, the unit emits a visual and audible alarm; the trigger points for the temperature alarm can be set to a maximum of ± 10 K.
Stainless steel inside and out
The bath body, cover frame, sieve base and heating element are made of stainless steel. The bath vessel has a drain tap, allowing the water to be drained without tilting the bath. The lid supplied is thermally insulated, double-walled and domed on the inside; condensation runs down the dome to the side rather than dripping back into the vessels.
Handling in everyday laboratory use
The drain tap on the bath vessel means that changing the water in this small volume takes just a few minutes; a drain hose is not strictly necessary. As the bath holds only a small amount of water, it can also be operated using distilled water or a temperature-control fluid without the cost per fill being a significant factor. For workstations with a limited number of sockets, the standard rated voltage of 230 volts at 50 or 60 hertz is sufficient.
Typical applications
- Temperature control of individual test tubes, sample tubes or small flasks in research and quality assurance
- Calibration baths for thermometers and sensors in the low-volume range
- Thawing and preheating small sample quantities in medical technology
- Secondary workstations and teaching laboratories with limited floor space
Selection guide: which Hydro size is right for you
If the bath volume of the H 8 is insufficient for multiple vessels, the series offers four larger models. With the same bath depth but a significantly wider opening of 400 x 245 millimetres, the Hydro H 16 accommodates more vessels side by side. Those requiring additional depth for tall flasks will find it in the Hydro H 22, which offers a bath volume of up to 20.3 l. The Hydro H 24 is suitable for an even wider opening of 600 x 245 millimetres, allowing many vessels to be placed in a row. The largest model in the range, the Hydro H 41, has a capacity of up to 37.9 l and is suitable for large batches or particularly tall vessels.
