LAUDA Hydro H 41 Water Bath, 25 to 100 °C, up to 37.9 L, 335 mm Bath Depth, L002905

Product information "LAUDA Hydro H 41 Water Bath, 25 to 100 °C, up to 37.9 L, 335 mm Bath Depth, L002905"

Large round-bottom flasks, several tall standing cylinders in use at the same time, or an experiment that simply requires more water around it will quickly exceed the capacity of the smaller Hydro models. With a bath volume of 9.3 to 37.9 l, the LAUDA Hydro H 41 is the largest model in the series and, at 410 x 296 x 335 millimetres, has both the widest and deepest bath. As with the smaller models, the operating temperature range is from 25 to 100 °C with a temperature stability of ± 0.1 K.

Large bath for large batches

With a bath depth of 335 millimetres, even tall vessels can be fully submerged, whilst the base area of 410 x 296 millimetres provides space for several large flasks or cylinders side by side. With a maximum heating power of 1.5 kilowatts, the larger water volume takes slightly longer to reach the set temperature than with the smaller models; however, the temperature remains constant throughout the entire batch.

Digital control even for large volumes

A TFT colour display shows the actual and setpoint values in °C or °F; settings are adjusted via a membrane keypad in increments of 0.1 °C. The 1-point temperature controller is accompanied by an electronic function monitoring system, whilst a timer covers three application-specific time functions in hours and minutes. In the event of low water level, over- or under-temperature, or in the event of a sensor break or short circuit, the unit triggers a visual and audible alarm; the trigger points can be set within a range of ± 10 K, which is particularly useful with this larger bath volume as it allows temperature deviations to be detected at an early stage.

Solid construction made from stainless steel

The bath body, cover frame, mesh base and heating element are made of stainless steel; a drain tap facilitates water changes in this larger-volume unit. The double-walled, internally domed lid insulates the heat and channels condensation away along the dome rather than allowing it to drip back into the vessels. The lid and mesh base are included as part of the scope of delivery.

Handling in everyday laboratory use

With a filling volume of almost 38 l, a nearby water supply is helpful to avoid the hassle of filling the bath from a canister. The drain tap then ensures controlled drainage. With a net weight of 22 kilograms, a fixed location on a sturdy laboratory bench is advisable; given this volume, moving the unit whilst in operation is not intended anyway.

Typical applications

  • Temperature control of large round-bottomed flasks or several tall standing cylinders simultaneously
  • Processes involving larger sample volumes in chemical process engineering
  • Applications in which vessels are fully immersed over considerable heights
  • Laboratory work involving varying batches, some of which are large in volume

Selection guide: is a smaller model sufficient?

For smaller batches with just a few vessels, the compact Hydro H 8 is the more economical choice. If all that is required is greater width to accommodate several vessels side by side with a shallower depth, the Hydro H 16 and the Hydro H 22, with bath volumes of 7.5 to 20.3 l, are better suited to your needs. If width is primarily required to accommodate many vessels in a row, without the additional depth of the H 41, the Hydro H 24, with a bath opening of 600 x 245 millimetres, is a better fit. The Hydro H 41 remains the model with the largest capacity within the series.
