Product information "LAUDA Hydro H 22 Water Bath, 25 to 100 °C, up to 20.3 L, 225 mm Bath Depth, L002903"
Tall stand-alone cylinders, filled measuring flasks or vessels that need to be completely submerged require more than just a wide opening; they need depth. The LAUDA Hydro H 22 shares the 400 x 245 millimetre bath opening with the Hydro H 16, but at 225 millimetres rather than 165 millimetres, it is noticeably deeper and can therefore hold up to 20.3 l. The operating temperature range is from 25 to 100 °C with a temperature stability of ± 0.1 K.
More depth for tall vessels
With a bath depth of 225 millimetres, even taller vessels can be fully immersed; the bath volume ranges from 7.5 to 20.3 l, depending on the fill level. With a maximum heating power of 1.5 kilowatts, the Hydro H 22 achieves comparable heating performance to the Hydro H 16 despite its larger volume.
Digital temperature control with alarm functions
The TFT colour display shows the actual and setpoint temperatures in °C or °F; settings are adjusted via a membrane keypad in increments of 0.1 °C. A 1-point temperature controller maintains a constant temperature, whilst a timer set in hours and minutes covers three application-specific time functions. Low water level, over- or under-temperature, as well as sensor failure or short circuit, trigger a visual and audible alarm; the trigger points can be set to a maximum of ± 10 K. Electronic function monitoring of the controller runs in the background.
Stainless steel bath with insulated lid
The bath body, cover frame, sieve base and heating element are made of stainless steel; the bath vessel has a drain tap. The double-walled, internally domed lid insulates the heat and directs condensation away along the dome, rather than allowing it to drip back into the vessels. The lid and sieve base are included as part of the scope of delivery.
Handling in everyday laboratory use
Due to the greater bath depth, changing the water involves a slightly larger volume; however, the drain tap on the bath vessel makes this a simple task without having to tip the bath. Tall vessels can be positioned safely on the sieve base, keeping them at a safe distance from the heating element. With a net weight of 16 kilograms, the Hydro H 22 remains easy for one person to handle, even though it is the heavier of the two models, with a bath opening measuring 400 x 245 millimetres.
Typical applications
- Complete immersion of tall standing cylinders or graduated flasks
- Temperature control of larger sample volumes in research and quality assurance
- Applications where vessels need to be temperature-controlled over their entire height
- Chemical process engineering requiring larger volumes than the H 16
Selection guide: depth or volume is the deciding factor
If a bath depth of 165 millimetres is sufficient with the same opening, the Hydro H 16, weighing 14 rather than 16 kilograms, is the slightly lighter alternative. For smaller numbers of vessels in confined spaces, the compact Hydro H 8, with its small 245 x 200 millimetre opening, is suitable. If a large number of vessels are required side by side rather than stacked vertically, the Hydro H 24, with its 600 x 245 millimetre wide opening, is better suited to these requirements. For even larger batches with a bath volume of up to 37.9 l and greater depth, the Hydro H 41 is the ideal model in the range.
