Product information "LAUDA Hydro H 24 Water Bath, 25 to 100 °C, up to 20.9 L, Bath Dimensions 600 x 245 mm, L002904"
If a large number of vessels need to be heated to the same temperature at the same time, it is primarily the width of the bath opening that determines how many of them can fit in at once. Measuring 600 x 245 millimetres, the LAUDA Hydro H 24 has the widest bath opening in the Hydro series, with a bath depth of 165 millimetres, the same as the Hydro H 8 and H 16. The bath volume ranges from 11.3 to 20.9 l, and the temperature is controlled within the standard operating range of 25 to 100 °C with a temperature stability of ± 0.1 K.
Space for many vessels in a row
The 600-millimetre-wide surface allows significantly more vessels to be placed side by side than with the smaller models in the series, for example, a row of beakers, narrow-necked flasks or sample containers. With a bath depth of 165 millimetres, the Hydro H 24 is particularly suitable for vessels that do not need to be fully submerged. The maximum heating power is 1.5 kilowatts.
Uniform temperature across the entire surface
Temperature control is handled by a 1-point controller, operated via a TFT colour display showing readings in °C or °F. Setpoints are entered in increments of 0.1 °C via a membrane keypad, whilst a timer set in hours and minutes covers three application-specific time functions. In the event of low water level, over- or under-temperature, or in the event of a sensor failure or short circuit, the unit triggers a visual and audible alarm; the trigger points can be adjusted within a range of ± 10 K. The controller’s electronic function monitoring runs continuously.
Robust construction for continuous operation
The bath body, cover frame, sieve base and heating element are made of stainless steel; a drain tap on the bath vessel simplifies water changes given the large surface area. The double-walled, internally domed lid insulates the heat along its entire length and channels condensation away along the dome. The lid and sieve tray are included as part of the scope of delivery.
Handling in everyday laboratory use
Given the wide surface area, it is advisable to establish a fixed arrangement for the vessels so that the same volume of water always circulates around each vessel and the temperature remains consistent across the entire row. The drain tap is located at the narrow end of the bath and remains easily accessible even when the bath is fully loaded. Weighing around 18 kilograms, the Hydro H 24 is best placed in a fixed, stable location rather than being moved frequently.
Typical applications
- Simultaneous temperature control of multiple vessels in series experiments
- Batch testing with a consistent temperature across the entire bath width
- Quality assurance with high sample throughput
- Applications in research and development laboratories with a high demand for vessels
Selection guide: width or depth required
If only a few vessels are required, the more compact Hydro H 8, with a bath opening of just 245 x 200 millimetres, is sufficient. For a moderate number of vessels with the same bath depth of 165 millimetres, the narrower Hydro H 16 with a 400 x 245 millimetre opening is suitable. If vessels need to be fully submerged rather than placed side by side, the Hydro H 22, with a bath depth of 225 millimetres instead of 165 millimetres, is better suited to these requirements, whilst offering the same opening width as the Hydro H 16. The largest model in the range, the Hydro H 41, combines greater depth with a bath volume of up to 37.9 l, making it equally suitable for large batches and tall vessels.
