Memmert Compressor-Cooled Incubator ICP260, 256 l, -12 to +60 °C, TwinDISPLAY

In the Memmert Compressor-Cooled Incubator ICP260, 256 litres are available in an interior of 640 × 800 × 500 mm (W×H×D), into which up to 9 shelves fit. It is the second of four ICP sizes. The unit cools and heats between -12 and +60 °C, the compressor system works with the refrigerant R290 propane, and control is via a TwinDISPLAY. Externally the unit measures 824 × 1,552 × 684 mm, plus 56 mm for the door handle.

Fitting with up to nine shelves

Two electropolished stainless steel grid shelves are installed as standard, and a maximum of 9 shelves can be used. One shelf carries up to 20 kg, and the whole unit up to 200 kg. The usable depth is 33 mm below the nominal dimension because the fan needs space. The unit is mobile and lockable and has a fully galvanised sheet steel rear wall. It weighs approx. 157 kg net and must be transported upright. It is installed with at least 15 cm distance to the wall behind the unit, 20 cm to the ceiling and 5 cm at the sides to wall or neighbouring unit.

Creating programs, saving profiles

The ControlCOCKPIT consists of an adaptive digital PID microprocessor controller and two high-resolution TFT colour graphic displays. With the AtmoCONTROL software, programs can be created, managed and transferred via Ethernet or USB port. The countdown clock covers 1 minute to 99 days and shows the target time, and SetpointWAIT lets the process time begin only when the setpoint temperature has been reached. If the power fails, the program sequence remains saved. Temperature can be displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit, plus speed of the circulating air motor, time zones and summer/winter time, and three freely selectable temperature values can be calibrated.

Cooling circuit and the limit below 0 °C

The compressor circuit is CFC-free and equipped with an automatic defrost. Heating and cooling act via an air jacket, and the thermal jacket is separated from the interior. Evaporator-related drying out of the material therefore does not occur. The setting range extends down to -12 °C. The ICP260 is not suitable for permanent storage at sub-zero temperatures, and in continuous operation the glass door can also ice up.

Two sensors and several protective functions

Two Pt100 sensors of DIN class A measure in 4-wire technology, monitor each other and take over the function of the other in the event of a fault. The temperature setting accuracy is 0.1 °C. Protection is provided by a mechanical temperature limiter TB (protection class 1, DIN 12880), which switches the heating off around 10 °C above the maximum oven temperature, as well as a TWW (protection class 3.3) or TWB (protection class 2) selectable on the display. AutoSAFETY adds an over- and under-temperature protection with a freely selectable interval to the setpoint: alarm on deviation, heating off when exceeded, cooling unit off when fallen below. Alarms appear visually and acoustically, and a self-diagnosis system helps with troubleshooting.

Between ICP110 and ICP450

The ICP110 has 108 litres, up to 5 shelves and 150 kg per unit. Anyone who needs more levels is right with the ICP260, because with 9 shelves it even has more levels than the larger ICP450, which allows only up to 8 shelves. The ICP450 is, in return, 1,040 mm wide and 600 mm deep inside (ICP260: 640 and 500 mm) and carries 30 kg per shelf instead of 20 kg. Anyone who needs to control air humidity at the same volume of 256 litres should look at the ICH260 climate chamber with active humidification and dehumidification from 10 to 80 % rh. Its setting temperature range begins at -10 °C, and with humidity it works from +10 to +60 °C.
