Memmert Humidity Chamber HCP150, 156 l, +18 to +90 °C, 20 to 95 % rh

Ten shelves in 156 litres: the Memmert Humidity Chamber HCP150 is the third of four sizes in the HCP series and, with 700 mm internal height, considerably taller than the HCP105 with 480 mm at the same internal area of 560 x 400 mm. Externally it measures 719 x 1,070 x 591 mm plus 56 mm door handle. Temperature (+18 to +90 °C) and relative humidity (20 to 95 % rh, also rh-Off) are controlled by the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY.

Ten levels, 120 kg total load

As standard, two stainless steel perforated sheets are in the interior made of stainless steel 1.4301 (ASTM 304), and a maximum of ten shelves fit in. 15 kg apply per shelf, and 120 kg for the whole unit. The net weight is approx. 90 kg, and the connected load at 230 V approx. 1,800 W. The permanently installed parts include a heated inner glass door behind the fully insulated stainless steel door (2-point locking) and a humidity-tight silicone feedthrough with 40 mm inner diameter in the rear wall, centre left.

Humidity from the canister

A water canister with connection hose is part of the scope of delivery. A self-priming pump supplies the water, the germ barrier works with hot steam generation, and dehumidification runs via a sterile filter. Only demineralised or fully deionised water comes into question, with 5 to 10 µS/cm conductivity and a pH value of 5 to 7. For alternatives for the water supply, such as a connection to the domestic water supply, we advise on request. Humidity can be set to an accuracy of 0.5 % rh, and temperature to 0.1 °C. Against condensate, heating on six sides, door heating and rear wall heating are at work.

Control and data retention

The TwinDISPLAY forms the ControlCOCKPIT: an adaptive, digital PID microprocessor controller with two high-resolution TFT colour graphic displays. Programs are created with the AtmoCONTROL software and reach the chamber via Ethernet or USB. The countdown clock covers 1 minute to 99 days, and SetpointWAIT waits for the setpoint temperature before starting the process time. Three values each for temperature and humidity are available for calibration. In the event of a power failure, the program sequence is saved. The menu languages range from German through Polish and Hungarian to Chinese.

Protective functions

Two Pt100 sensors (DIN class A, 4-wire measurement) monitor each other and step in for one another in the event of a fault. AutoSAFETY switches the heating off when the freely selectable interval to the setpoint is exceeded and alarms visually and acoustically when exceeded or fallen below. The self-diagnosis system concerns the temperature and humidity control. The permissible environment is 10 to 30 °C at a maximum of 70 % rel. humidity (non-condensing) and an altitude up to 2,000 m above sea level. The chamber is transported upright. It needs 15 cm to the wall at the back, 20 cm to the ceiling and 5 cm at the sides.

Between HCP105 and HCP240

The HCP105 has the same internal area, but only six shelves and 90 kg total load. The HCP240 (241 l, twelve shelves, 140 kg) is 600 mm wide and 500 mm deep inside. Anyone looking for a larger volume in a climate chamber with a different range will find 256 l at -10 to +60 °C and 10 to 80 % rh in the ICH260. The HCP150, by contrast, covers +18 to +90 °C and 20 to 95 % rh.
