Memmert IN260 incubator, 256 l, +20 to +80 °C, SingleDISPLAY

The IN260 offers an internal capacity of 256 litres and a maximum of nine shelves, more than any smaller model in the IN series featuring SingleDISPLAY. Weighing around 110 kilograms net, the unit is installed with a clearance from the wall, just like the smaller models; it comes as standard without castors, though a castor frame can be ordered as a factory option. Temperature control is via a ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY, with a range from +20 to +80 °C.

Installation and positioning

Memmert specifies a minimum clearance of 15 centimetres from the wall, a minimum of 20 centimetres from the ceiling and a minimum of 5 centimetres at the sides. Natural convection mixes in preheated fresh air via an electronically adjustable exhaust air flap; the exhaust air outlet with throttle valve can be controlled electronically. The interior is reinforced by deep-drawn ribbing and features a protected, integrated 4-sided all-round heating system. Those requiring forced air circulation instead of natural convection will find the same size model in the IF series.

Control and calibration

The ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY with a TFT colour graphic display evaluates data from a DIN Class A Pt100 sensor in a 4-wire measurement; the setting accuracy is 0.1 °C. Three freely selectable temperature values can be calibrated, whilst a self-diagnostic system assists with troubleshooting. The programme sequence is saved in the event of a power cut, and the data logger can be read out via Ethernet.

Safety technology according to DIN 12880

A mechanical temperature limiter, protection class 1 according to DIN 12880, switches off the heating when the temperature rises to approximately 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. Behind the fully insulated stainless steel door with a 2-point locking mechanism lies an inner glass door; an adjustable electronic temperature monitoring system complements the safety features. The permissible ambient temperature is between +5 °C and +40 °C at a maximum relative humidity of 80 %.

Selection guide for the right size

With nine shelves, the IN260 offers the most shelf spaces of all models below the large mobile units, making it suitable for users who find the 161-litre IN160 too small. If more floor space is available, the table below lists the mobile IN450 with a capacity of 449 litres; however, it has only eight shelves instead of nine.
