Memmert Vacuum Drying Oven VO101, 101 l, +20 to +200 °C, TwinDISPLAY

With 101 litres of internal volume, the VO101 is the largest version of the Memmert VO series. The interior measures 545 x 465 x 400 mm and the housing 710 x 767 x 550 mm, plus 38 mm for the door handle. The oven weighs approx. 110 kg net. The temperature can be set from +20 to +200 °C, and the pressure digitally from 5 to 1,100 mbar.

The large interior and its load limits

The interior is hermetically sealed by welding and made of stainless steel 1.4404. A removable lining of the same steel with support rails, tilt protection and ceiling lining against ventilation turbulence sits inside. The unit may be loaded with 60 kg in total, and each of the maximum 2 shelves with 20 kg.

An aluminium thermal shelf (material 3.3547) with integrated large-area heating is part of the scope of delivery. Two connections in the rear wall (1st and 3rd level) accept thermal shelves. Each shelf has its own MLC control and a Pt100 sensor in 4-wire measurement. The Premium module T5 includes an additional thermal shelf from the factory as well as further connections. As accessories, further shelves made of anodised aluminium (B00744) or stainless steel 1.4404 (B00735) are available.

Vacuum cycles for larger quantities

The applications of the series include drying larger quantities of powder or granules with vacuum cycles. Temperature, pressure and program runtime are settable, and the digital pressure control works in the range 5 to 1,100 mbar. The permissible ultimate vacuum is 0.01 mbar, and the leak rate is 0.01 bar/h at most. A programmable, digitally controlled air inlet ventilates the chamber, and the pipework in the suction and ventilation area is made of material 1.4571 (ASTM 316 Ti).

Pump, pump module and base frame

Vacuum pump and accessories for connection are not in the scope of delivery. The oven has a small flange DN16 for extraction and a gas inlet with fresh air supply. The chemically resistant 4-head diaphragm pump E07509 with approx. 50 Nl./min (3.0 m³/h) and 230 V is available for selection. It is switched ON and OFF via a signal output, and the oven controls its speed and the flushing cycles of the diaphragm on demand. Signal cable B39410 and hose B04026 with 3 m each are also mandatory. When a pump module with built-in pump (PMP101) is ordered, both are not needed, and the module without pump is called PM101. Oven and pump module form a stacked unit of 1,650 mm height with the base frame B63507.

Operation, documentation and alarm

Two TFT colour graphic displays form the TwinDISPLAY, and the language can be selected from nine. The countdown clock covers 1 minute to 99 days, and SetpointWAIT starts the runtime only when the setpoint temperature has been reached. The setting accuracy is 0.1 °C up to a setpoint temperature of 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C. Programs are created and managed with AtmoCONTROL and transferred via Ethernet LAN or USB, and the program sequence is saved in the event of a power failure. For FDA requirements under 21 CFR Part 11, the licence FDAQ1 for AtmoCONTROL FDA is available as an accessory. As a factory option there is the current interface V3, which outputs the actual temperature value from 0 to 210 °C as 4 to 20 mA (only with T5).

Safety technology

The heating is switched off by the mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 to DIN 12880 at approximately 10 °C above the maximum oven temperature. ASF, the AutoSAFETY monitoring, keeps a freely selectable interval to the setpoint, alarms visually and acoustically when fallen below or exceeded, and switches the heating off when exceeded. The self-diagnosis system checks the temperature control. The full-view glass door consists of spring-mounted 15 mm safety glass on the inside and a splinter-protection pane on the outside; the door construction is burst-proof and VDE-tested.

For installation, 15 cm distance to the rear wall, 20 cm to the ceiling and 8 cm at the sides apply, with an environment of +5 to +40 °C at a maximum of 80 % relative humidity without condensation. The oven is transported upright.

Selection guide: when a smaller VO is enough

The VO49 has the same temperature and pressure range, an interior of 385 x 385 x 330 mm and approx. 83 kg net weight. With 60 kg unit load and 20 kg per shelf, both units are equal in load capacity. The interior therefore decides above all: if the material to be dried fits in 385 x 385 x 330 mm, the smaller oven is enough. Only when width, height or depth go beyond that does the VO101 with 545 x 465 x 400 mm become interesting.
