Bürkle Allschicht collector, V4A stainless steel, 710 mm, 5316-2085

Product information "Bürkle Allschicht collector, V4A stainless steel, 710 mm, 5316-2085"

If a sample is intended to represent the entire layer height of a bulk material rather than individual zones, a zone profile comprising separate chambers is not the right tool. The full-layer sampler is manufactured entirely from V4A (1.4404) stainless steel and is designed for sampling over the full insertion depth, from the food and pharmaceutical industries through to the chemical industry.

Made entirely of stainless steel rather than with a PTFE core

Unlike the V4A/PTFE Multi-Collector, the All-Layer Collector does not have a PTFE core, but is made entirely of V4A (1.4404) stainless steel. This makes it more robust against intensive use and abrasive particles, and corrosion-resistant even in damp or aggressive environments.

Hygienic surface for sensitive sectors

The smooth surface facilitates cleaning and disinfection. According to the manufacturer, the All-Layer Collector is autoclavable up to a maximum of 121 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes and can also be flame-sterilised, which reduces the risk of contamination between two sampling operations.

ISTA-compliant seed sampling

For seed sampling, the Allschicht collector complies, according to the manufacturer’s specifications, with the ISTA standard for a seed length of 10 millimetres – such as for wheat and oats – and 5 millimetres – such as for flax and vetch. This makes it suitable not only for use in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries but also for seed inspection, where sampling requirements are strictly regulated.

Two sizes with three or five openings

The shorter version, with a penetration depth of 710 millimetres, has three collection openings and yields a sample volume of 130 millilitres; the longer version, with a penetration depth of 1,355 millimetres, has five openings and yields 260 millilitres. Both sizes correspond in penetration depth to the two versions of the Multi-Collector, and thus cover the same container heights.

When a continuous sample is the better choice

In the case of bulk materials that have become heavily segregated, a zone profile taken from individual chambers can indicate at which point in the container the quality deviates. If, on the other hand, the question is whether a batch as a whole meets the specifications, a continuous sample taken across the entire layer height is often more informative and quicker to analyse than several individual samples. For seed testing in accordance with ISTA guidelines, this design is mandatory in any case, as a representative sample covering the entire quantity is required here, rather than a spot zone sample.

Suitable for flame sterilisation to meet particularly high hygiene requirements

In addition to autoclaving, Bürkle explicitly mentions the option of flame-sterilising the all-layer sampler. This is an additional option if there is no time for a full autoclave cycle between two sampling operations, or if the sampler needs to be cleaned directly on the production line between two batches.

Typical areas of application

  • Samples taken across the entire layer height in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries
  • Seed sampling in accordance with ISTA specifications, for example for wheat, oats, flax or vetch
  • Applications with high standards of hygiene and cleaning
  • Environments containing abrasive particles or aggressive cleaning agents

Weight and handling by size

The shorter version, with a penetration depth of 710 millimetres, weighs approximately 1.8 kilograms net, whilst the longer version, with a penetration depth of 1,355 millimetres, weighs approximately 3.1 kilograms. Anyone who uses the all-layer sampler several times a day, for example when taking regular incoming goods samples, will notice this difference over the course of the working day. For occasional, less frequent sampling from tall containers, the greater weight of the long version is usually not a problem. Where there are frequent changes between several samples in a day, the shorter version may be the more practical choice, provided the insertion depth is sufficient for the container in question.

Service and procurement

If a profile comprising individual zones is required instead of a continuous sample across the full layer height, the Multi-Sampler is more suitable. For a lighter aluminium version, the All-Layer Aluminium Sampler is recommended; for larger containers, the Jumbo All-Layer Zone Sampler is suitable. LT Laborhandel provides advice on selection and orders each size individually.
