Bürkle Multi-Collector Multi-stage Sampler, V4A stainless steel/PTFE, 710 mm, 5316-0085

Product information "Bürkle Multi-Collector Multi-stage Sampler, V4A stainless steel/PTFE, 710 mm, 5316-0085"

Anyone wishing to take samples from several depths or layers from a sack, drum or silo in a single operation requires a sampler with several separate collection chambers. The V4A/PTFE multi-collector opens and closes its chambers via a rotary movement of the handle and only releases each sample at the desired depth, rather than collecting it as soon as it is inserted.

Stainless steel with a PTFE core for reduced weight

The tube is made of V4A (1.4404) stainless steel with a PTFE core. This combination combines the chemical resistance of stainless steel with the lower weight of PTFE, making the sampler smoother to operate than a version made entirely of stainless steel. For businesses that use the sampler several times a day, this has a noticeable impact on ease of use. At the same time, this version is more cost-effective than the multi-collector variant made entirely from V4A stainless steel.

Small clearances to prevent carry-over

The clearances between the collection chamber and the outer tube have been deliberately kept small. This reduces the risk of particles from one chamber entering another zone when the sampler is withdrawn, thereby distorting the results of the zone analysis.

Two sizes with three or five chambers

The shorter version, with an insertion depth of 710 millimetres, has three collection chambers, each with a capacity of 17 millilitres, totalling 51 millilitres. The longer version, with an insertion depth of 1,355 millimetres, has five chambers of the same size, totalling 85 millilitres. Coloured caps for colour-coding make it easier to identify samples when several samplers are in use simultaneously. The appropriate length depends primarily on the height of the container in question and the number of zones to be tested.

Seal and cleaning

The seal is made of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR). It ensures that the chambers seal reliably when closed and that no sample leaks between two zones. The tube diameter of 25 millimetres allows for cleaning with a brush or cloth, even between successive sampling operations on different materials. After autoclaving, the sampler is ready for use with the next batch without the need to replace the seals.

Practical example: goods receipt

When a pallet of sacks containing raw material arrives at goods-in, the multi-sampler can be used to check in a single operation whether the material is uniform throughout the entire height of the sack. If the chamber samples differ significantly from one another – for example, because heavier particles have settled at the bottom of the sack – this is an indication of segregation, which would remain undetected if only a single sample were taken from a single depth.

For which samples is the Multi-Collector the right choice?

Unlike a sampler with just one collection chamber, the Multi-Collector provides a zone profile across the entire penetration depth in a single operation. If, on the other hand, only a targeted sample from a single depth is required, the Uno-Collector target-point sampler from the same product range is sufficient. If the sample is intended to represent the entire layer height rather than individual zones, the V4A All-Layer Sampler is more suitable.

Typical applications

  • Zone profiles from bulk materials in sacks, drums, silos or big bags
  • Quality control of homogeneity across the bulk height
  • Sampling in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries
  • Frequent sampling where weight and handling are important factors

Service and procurement

Whether the V4A/PTFE version or the variant made entirely of stainless steel is more suitable depends on the frequency of use and the requirements regarding weight and durability. LT Laborhandel can advise on the choice between the two versions and orders each size individually. If you have any queries, please contact LT Laborhandel for further assistance.
