Heidolph Hei-PLATE Sensor Basic Package Core+ Magnetic Stirrer Set, Ø145 mm, with Pt1000 Probe, 506-21150-00

A digital display on the hotplate and an external temperature probe in the vessel are, for many laboratories, the first step towards traceable temperature control. The Sensor Basic Core+ package combines the Hei-PLATE Mix’n’Heat Core+ digital magnetic stirrer, with a footprint of 145 millimetres, with an external Pt1000 temperature probe, whilst remaining a basic configuration without a stand or silicone cover.

LCD display and two heating modes

The Hei-PLATE Mix’n’Heat Core+ included in the pack displays speed and temperature on an LCD screen; the dynamic control knobs respond to the speed of hand movement, slow for fine adjustment, fast for larger increments. There are two heating modes to choose from: FAST for rapid heating and PRECISE for control without overshoot. The included Pt1000 temperature probe (V4A, order number 509-67910-00) measures the temperature directly within the medium rather than just on the heating plate, with an accuracy of ±0.2 Kelvin plus the tolerance of the Pt1000 sensor and a resolution of 1 Kelvin. In conjunction with the probe, the magnetic stirrer covers a display and measurement range from 15 to 325 degrees Celsius.

Why the temperature in the medium matters

Without an external probe, a heating plate only controls the temperature of its own surface, not that of the liquid in the vessel. For buffers, solutions or reaction mixtures with a defined target temperature, this makes a difference, particularly when the volume or shape of the vessel changes. The Pt1000 probe is immersed in the medium and provides the control system with the actual value. This allows the set temperature to be reproduced independently of the vessel.

Selection guide: Basic or Advanced

If you wish to secure the sensor permanently and protect the work surface between uses, you’ll find the right equipment in the Core+ Sensor Advanced Package, which includes an additional mount and silicone cover. For reflux set-ups with a condenser, there are the dedicated Core+ and Core+ Mini reflux packages. If you do not require an LCD display and are happy with the simpler rotary knob operation, the Sensor Advanced Package Core offers the analogue alternative.

Heidolph Scientific Products GmbH, Schwabach, provides a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. This excludes glass parts and wear parts, damage caused during transport, and damage resulting from improper use. If the appliance is registered with Heidolph, the warranty commences on the date of purchase; otherwise, it commences on the date of manufacture as indicated by the serial number. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected. Heidolph offers a 10-year warranty on the Hei-PLATE series magnetic stirrer included in the pack, provided the instrument is registered with Heidolph within the first year of purchase. This extended warranty does not apply to the temperature probe, which is sold as an accessory.
