IKA T 25 digital LR disperser, for laboratory reactors, up to 2000 ml, 0020008820

Product information "IKA T 25 digital LR disperser, for laboratory reactors, up to 2000 ml, 0020008820"

Anyone wishing to prepare emulsions, suspensions or nanoparticle formulations not in an open beaker but in a closed, temperature-controlled laboratory reactor will need a drive that can be integrated into this system. The IKA T 25 digital LR disperser (0020008820) is designed precisely for this purpose: a dedicated drive unit for high-speed dispersion in laboratory reactors, with a volume range of 1 to 2,000 millilitres (based on water) and a speed range of 600 to 25,000 revolutions per minute. Unlike a benchtop disperser for open beakers, it is designed from the outset for mechanical integration into closed reactor systems and is not intended as a stand-alone, ready-to-use laboratory instrument.

Powerful drive with infinitely variable speed control

The 800-watt motor (500 watts output power) covers a continuously and electronically adjustable speed range from 600 to 25,000 revolutions per minute, displayed via a digital LED display with a deviation of just 1 per cent from the set target speed. In combination with the appropriate IKA dispersion tools, high shear forces are generated in the narrow shear gap between the rotor and stator, which break down particles and droplets and homogenise liquid phases – the classic operating principle of rotor-stator dispersers. The maximum permissible viscosity of the medium is 5,000 mPa·s, a guideline value that must be taken into account when selecting the dispersing tool and controlling the process.

Designed for installation in laboratory reactor systems

Unlike free-standing bench-top dispersers, the T 25 digital LR is designed as a drive unit only, which can be mechanically coupled with the special dispersing tools of the KD-LR series. These tools are designed for use in closed laboratory reactors such as the IKA LR 1000 and, thanks to high-quality shaft seals, enable operation under vacuum – which is useful for preventing aerosol and foam formation in media containing surfactants or for processing oxidation-sensitive batches under an inert atmosphere. Neither the dispersing tool nor the reactor itself is included with the T 25 digital LR; both must be purchased separately to suit the specific application.

Electronic overload protection and digital display

An integrated microprocessor maintains the set speed even when the resistance of the medium changes, for example if the viscosity of a batch increases during the reaction. If the stirring tool becomes suddenly blocked, for example by a jammed particle, an electronic overload protection system switches off the motor and displays an error code; this protects both the motor and the coupled dispersing tool. The unit is designed for continuous operation with a permissible duty cycle of 100 per cent.

Compact design for mounting on a reactor stand

Measuring 87 x 271 x 106 millimetres and weighing 2.5 kilograms, the T 25 digital LR can be mounted on a reactor stand to save space. The noise level without the dispersing tool fitted is 75 dB(A). The housing is rated to protection class IP 20 and approved for an ambient temperature of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius. It can be connected to either 220 to 240 volts or 100 to 120 volts at 50 or 60 hertz.

Selecting the appropriate dispersing tool

Which KD-LR tool is suitable in each individual case depends on the reactor volume, the desired immersion depth and the viscosity range of the medium. The tools in this series feature an extended design so that, even in larger reaction vessels, they reach right down to the bottom of the vessel and continue to disperse effectively there, rather than leaving dead volume unused. As the T 25 digital LR is designed as a drive for different reactor sizes and tool variants, the same drive can often continue to be used when process requirements change, whilst only the dispersing tool is replaced.

Typical applications

As a drive unit for laboratory reactors, the T 25 digital LR is used wherever dispersion processes must take place under controlled, closed conditions:

  • Production of emulsions and creams under air-exclusion conditions in closed reactors
  • Dispersion and homogenisation of suspensions with controlled temperature regulation
  • Scale-up trials between open beaker stirring and pilot reactors
  • Production of finely dispersed systems with limited sample volumes from 1 millilitre
  • Process development in the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industries with requirements for reproducibility

IKA S 25 KD - LR - 25 G dispersing tool (for laboratory reactors), 0025007321
Herstellernummer: 0025007321

The IKA S 25 KD - LR - 25 G is a specialised dispersing tool designed primarily for use in IKA laboratory reactors (LR series). The distinctive feature of this tool lies in its geometric design: it has an extended shaft (267 mm installation length), which allows for deeper immersion into reactor vessels. This is crucial for ensuring efficient homogenisation even at low liquid levels or with small sample volumes, without the reactor needing to be filled to the brim. KD design for vacuum and cleaning The abbreviation ‘KD’ stands for a special sealing and bearing design that allows operation under vacuum down to 100 mbar. This makes the tool ideal for processes where air ingress must be avoided or which take place under reduced pressure (e.g. degassing during dispersion). At the same time, the KD design enables tool-free disassembly: the rotor can be easily removed, which significantly facilitates cleaning and sterilisation (wet chemical or autoclave) and prevents cross-contamination. Material quality and FDA compliance All parts in contact with the product are manufactured from high-quality materials: stainless steel (AISI 316L), PTFE and FFPM. This combination not only ensures high chemical resistance (pH 2–13) and solvent compatibility, but also meets the strict requirements of the FDA. This makes the tool ideally suited for applications in pharmaceutical and food development, where the highest levels of purity are required. IKA LR 1000 control system, laboratory reactor, vacuum, 1000 ml, 0025001991
Herstellernummer: 0025001991

Scale-up and thermodynamic process control In demanding chemical synthesis, pharmaceutical formulation development and cosmetic polymer processing, the precise reproducibility of thermodynamic and rheological parameters is absolutely essential. The IKA LR 1000 control system is a highly integrated, modular reactor platform that physically simulates the fluid dynamic and thermal behaviour of large-scale industrial production plants on a 1,000-millilitre scale. The system consists of a processor-controlled base station with integrated heating, a borosilicate glass reactor suitable for high vacuum, and high-precision sensor technology. The direct thermal coupling of the heating plate to the reactor base enables a substantial energy input, which heats the medium to precisely defined process temperatures of up to 120 °C. This allows complex endothermic reactions to be carried out or high-molecular-weight resins to be melted under strictly controlled laboratory conditions. Rheology and wall-near mixing kinetics The processing of non-Newtonian, structurally viscous fluids requires specialised mechanical energy input. The system is factory-fitted with the IKA LR 1000.10 anchor stirrer. This stirring element, manufactured from AISI 316L stainless steel, induces immense radial and tangential shear stresses in the medium. The integrated PEEK scrapers continuously abrade the inner wall of the reactor vessel. This kinematics mechanically breaks down the highly insulating thermal boundary layer (hotspots) on the heated glass wall and maximises the convective heat transfer coefficient in matrices with a dynamic viscosity of up to 100,000 mPa·s. To ensure the gentle discharge of these viscous gels and pastes, the reactor vessel (LR 1000.3) included in the set features a dead-space-free bottom drain valve at the lowest point of the vessel. Metrological data acquisition and pH integration The key difference from the “basic” version lies in the metrological superiority of the “control” infrastructure. The base station features a multilingual TFT display which not only controls the rotation speed (10 to 150 rpm) and the heating power, but also acts as a central hub for chemical sensor technology. The system allows the direct connection of pH electrodes for in-situ monitoring of acid-base reactions. The temperature at the core of the medium is simultaneously recorded by the supplied PT 100.30 sensor. An integrated weighing algorithm also continuously measures changes in the torque trend of the stirring mechanism, enabling highly precise, indirect real-time analysis of increases in viscosity (for example, during polymerisation processes). Vacuum architecture and digital system integration Control of the reactor atmosphere is essential for the bubble-free degassing of emulsions or for moisture-sensitive reactions. The system is designed for hermetically sealed vacuum operation. Standard-threaded ports (NS 14 and NS 29) in the lid allow for the gas-tight insertion of sensors and the connection of vacuum pumps or inert gas lines. For certified laboratories (GLP/GMP), the “control” system offers seamless digital traceability. The integrated USB and RS-232 interfaces allow the entire reactor to be connected to a PC in a tamper-proof manner. Using the IKA labworldsoft software, complex temperature and speed ramps can be programmed, and all metrological measurement data (temperature, pH value, torque) can be archived with precise time stamps for official QM audits. IKA Laborreaktor LR-2.ST Starvisc 200, Messrührer mit Drehmoment- und Viskositätsmessung
IKA LR-2.ST Starvisc 200 Laboratory Reactor, Measuring Stirrer, 0020020603
Herstellernummer: 0020020603

Anyone developing a chemical reaction on a laboratory scale and later wanting to transfer it to a larger scale needs more than a stirrer display that only reports a trend. The IKA LR-2.ST Starvisc 200 laboratory reactor measures torque and viscosity directly at the STARVISC 200-2.5 control measuring stirrer while the reaction is running, not afterwards on a separate viscometer. This distinguishes it from the four other versions of the LR-2.ST series, which work with EUROSTAR stirrers and a general torque trend display but provide no calibrated measurement. For high-viscosity media up to 100,000 mPas and working volumes of 500 to 2,000 ml, the system therefore delivers reproducible measured values for process development instead of just a rough estimate. The complete stand system is supplied: the LR.SI base component, the HEAD,REACTOR,LR2.10 reactor lid and the STARVISC 200-2.5 control measuring stirrer. The reactor vessel itself is not included in the scope of delivery. The glass vessel is ordered separately to match the required working volume. This applies equally to all five variants of the LR-2.ST series and should be planned for with the first order of a system.True torque and viscosity measurement during the reactionThe STARVISC 200-2.5 control measures torque and the viscosity derived from it in a calibrated way at the stirring shaft, with a maximum value of 200 Ncm. This is exactly what makes the difference from the general torque trend display of the other LR-2.ST variants: there the display shows whether the torque is rising or falling, here there is a reliable measured value that can be documented and taken into an evaluation. For product development in which viscosity profiles during a reaction (for example in polymerisations or when resins cure) decide the process quality, this is the real reason to buy this model within the series. The minimum speed of 6 rpm additionally allows very slow stirring when a reaction tolerates only little shear energy.Temperature range, working volume and vacuum operationThe working volume is between 500 and 2,000 ml. With a dispersing tool, at least 800 ml should be in the vessel so that the shearing action does not run into empty space. The working temperature ranges from -50 to 230 °C, and the telescopic stand has a stroke of 390 mm for different vessel sizes and set-ups. Vacuum operation down to 25 mbar is possible, for example for degassing media or for reactions that are to take place at reduced pressure. The product-contacting parts of the system itself are made of borosilicate glass, FFPM, PTFE and steel 1.4571. The reactor lid has three NS 29/32 openings and two NS 14/23 openings for sensors, additions or a reflux condenser.Reproducibility and documentation of the measured valuesFor process development, besides the measured value itself, it also matters that a stirring experiment can later be repeated identically. Because the STARVISC 200-2.5 control records torque and viscosity continuously, a batch can be evaluated over time and compared with later batches, instead of merely noting a subjective assessment of the stirrer display. When transferring laboratory results to a larger scale, this traceability is often more important than a single measurement, because deviations between two batches only show up in comparison. For laboratories with documented equipment qualification, factory calibration certificates and IQ/OQ documents for the system are also available, see the section on the procurement service. Especially when comparing different recipes or batches, the system thus provides an objective basis on which decisions in the laboratory can be founded, instead of relying on the impression of a single person at the stirrer.Typical applicationsOptimisation and reproduction of chemical reaction, mixing and homogenising processes on a laboratory scaleProduct development requiring documented torque and viscosity measurement during the reaction, for example with polymerisations, resins or adhesivesProcessing of high-viscosity media up to 100,000 mPasReactions under vacuum or reduced pressure, for example for degassingScale-up preparatory work before moving to a larger production scaleSelection guide within the LR-2.ST familyThe LR-2.ST series is available in five versions with the same stand system and reactor lid, but different stirrers. The glass vessel is ordered separately to match the required working volume, as are accessories such as stirring elements for other applications, temperature probes, a vacuum pump or a circulating thermostat, if these are not yet available.Use and maintenanceThe system weighs 25 kg and belongs on a stable, level work surface with sufficient load capacity. Before each vacuum operation, a brief visual check of the standard ground joint connections at the lid is worthwhile, as a leak otherwise costs vacuum performance. The permissible ambient temperature range is 5 to 40 °C, the permissible relative humidity 80 %. After stirring high-viscosity or sticky media, the measuring stirrer can be detached from the lid for cleaning without dismantling the entire stand system. When changing between media of different viscosity, it makes sense to check the measuring stirrer for residues before the next batch, because dried-on residues can falsify the torque measurement. At the end of its service life, the system belongs, as electrical equipment, in the separate collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment, not in household waste.Individual requirements and procurement serviceFor the LR-2.ST Starvisc 200, IKA offers an extensive accessory range: reactor vessels in different volumes, further stirring elements such as anchor stirrers or baffles, dispersing tools of the T 25 series, pH and temperature probes, vacuum pumps and controllers, and circulating thermostats for active temperature control. Factory calibration certificates and IQ/OQ documentation are also available if required. Through our procurement service, LT Laborhandel supports you in putting together the right reactor vessel and further components for your LR-2.ST system. In making the selection we take into account the planned working volume, type of medium and process temperature, so that vessel and drive match each other.Frequently asked questionsIs a reactor vessel included in the scope of delivery? No. The Starvisc 200 is supplied as a stand system with base component, reactor lid and measuring stirrer. IKA Laborreaktor LR 1000 basic System, 1000 ml, bis 100.000 mPas
IKA LR 1000 basic System Laboratory Reactor, 1000 ml, up to 100,000 mPas, 20119960
Herstellernummer: 0020119960

For stirring and heating processes on the 1-litre scale that do not require pH measurement or digital process documentation, the IKA LR 1000 basic System laboratory reactor (MPN 20119960) offers the basic equipment of the LR 1000 reactor platform. It processes media with a viscosity of up to 100,000 mPas in a working volume of up to 1000 millilitres and heats the medium to working temperatures of up to 120 degrees Celsius. As the entry-level version of the LR 1000 series, it suits laboratories that need a compact, heated laboratory reactor without the additional sensors of the LR 1000 control System. Operation therefore stays reduced to the essentials: set the speed, set the temperature, stir. Anchor stirrer and speed control up to 100,000 mPas The speed range of the LR 1000 basic System extends from 10 to 150 revolutions per minute at a rated torque of 3 Nm, with a maximum speed deviation of ±5 revolutions per minute. This allows media with a viscosity of up to 100,000 mPas to be stirred in a controlled way. The system is designed for continuous operation at 100 per cent duty cycle, so longer reactions or multi-hour stirring processes can be run without interruption. Heated reactor vessel with 1000 millilitres working volume The reactor vessel holds a maximum of 1000 millilitres. With a dispersing tool the minimum volume is 500 millilitres, without a dispersing tool it is 300 millilitres. The heater delivers a heating power of 1000 watts and warms the medium to up to 120 degrees Celsius, while the heating plate itself can reach temperatures of up to 180 degrees Celsius. Temperature control works with an accuracy of ±0.2 kelvin at the medium and a setting accuracy of ±1 kelvin for the target temperature. The system is also designed for vacuum operation down to 25 mbar. Compact design with connection for external temperature probes With dimensions of 443 x 360 x 295 millimetres and a weight of around 22 kilograms, the LR 1000 basic System fits into a modest footprint in the laboratory. An external temperature probe can be connected via a PT100 connection, and two additional hose nozzles allow connection of an external cooling medium, for example to cool exothermic reactions in a controlled way. An RS 232 interface and a USB port are available for connection to a PC. Material and resistance The media-contacting parts are made of borosilicate glass 3.3, stainless steel AISI 316L, PTFE and PEEK. The seals are made of FKM and, together with the chemically resistant glass, make the system suitable for both aqueous and solvent-based batches. The permissible ambient temperature is 5 to 40 degrees Celsius, the permissible relative humidity a maximum of 80 per cent. Vacuum operation for degassing and solvent-free working In addition to classic stirring and heating at normal pressure, the LR 1000 basic System can also be operated under vacuum down to 25 mbar. This is helpful, for example, when air bubbles are to be removed from a viscous formulation, or when a solvent is to be removed gently at reduced pressure and therefore lower temperature, instead of heating the medium to its boiling point at normal pressure. Difference from the LR 1000 control System The basic System covers the basic stirring and heating functions of the LR 1000 series, but omits the TFT display, pH measurement, integrated weighing function and Bluetooth connection of the LR 1000 control System. For applications where pure temperature and speed control without additional measurement data acquisition is sufficient, the basic System is therefore the more economical choice within the series. Typical applications The LR 1000 basic System is suitable for stirring and heating processes on the 1-litre scale without additional documentation requirements, wherever a solid basic equipment level is sufficient: Stirring and heating reaction batches in chemical synthesis Homogenising and temperature-controlling creams, gels and emulsions in cosmetics development Vacuum-assisted degassing or concentrating of solutions Formulation development in early pharmaceutical development Practical courses and training in which the basic handling of a heated laboratory reactor is taught Routine processes in which temperature and speed must be kept constant and no pH measurement is required Smaller batches in materials development where external temperature monitoring via PT100 is sufficient Preliminary trials to test new recipes before a process is transferred to the more extensively equipped control System Technical details Max. working volume1000 ml Min. volume with dispersing tool500 ml Min. volume without dispersing tool300 ml Speed range10 to 150 rpm Speed deviationmax. ±5 rpm Rated torque3 Nm Max. viscosity100,000 mPas Working temperature (medium) max.120 °C Heating temperature (heating plate) max.180 °C Heating power1000 W Control accuracy (medium)±0.2 K Setting accuracy target temperature±1 K Achievable vacuum25 mbar Permissible duty cycle100 % Material (media-contacting parts)Borosilicate glass 3.3, stainless steel AISI 316L, PTFE, PEEK, FKM InterfacesRS 232, USB Connection for external temperature probePT100 Dimensions (W x H x D)443 x 360 x 295 mm Weightapprox. 22 kg Permissible ambient temperature5 to 40 °C Permissible relative humiditymax. 80 % Scope of delivery 1 x IKA LR 1000 basic base station 1 x Reactor vessel 1 x Sensor holder 1 x Temperature probe 1 x Stand rod 2 x Hose nozzles for cooling medium Individual requirements and procurement service To extend the LR 1000 basic System, we support you through our procurement service with additional accessories, for example further reactor vessels, dispersing tools or a move to the more extensively equipped LR 1000 control System.
