Memmert constant climate chamber HPP1060eco, 1,060 l, 0 to +70 °C, 10 to 90 % rh

With 1,060 litres of interior, the Memmert constant climate chamber HPP1060eco stands in the laboratory as a mobile floor-standing unit. It is the largest chamber of the HPPeco series that can still be set up to 90 % rh. Temperature control is by a Peltier heating/cooling system in the rear wall, so without compressor and without refrigerant. Humidification is by a hot steam generator, and dehumidification via a cold trap in Peltier technology. The external dimensions are 1,224 x 1,720 x 1,005 mm (W x H x D), and control is via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY.

Peltier technology and water supply

The Peltier element works on the heat pump principle and sits in the rear wall. To the unit depth are added 111 mm for the Peltier element and 56 mm for the door handle. For humidity, a self-priming pump draws distilled water from an external container, and a water canister with connection hose is supplied with the chamber. Anyone who wants to connect the chamber to the domestic water supply selects the central water supply with filter cartridges (ZWVR6) or without filter cartridges (ZWVR7). With ZWVR7, only demineralised, fully deionised water with a conductivity of 5 to 10 μS/cm and a pH value between 5 and 7 may be used.

Temperature and humidity working together

The setting temperature range depends on whether humidification is used. Without humidity, 0 to +70 °C can be set, and with humidity +5 to +70 °C. The working temperature range is, without humidity, 0 °C (min. 20 °C below room temperature) to +70 °C, and with humidity +5 °C (min. 20 °C below room temperature) to +70 °C. Humidity is settable from 10 to 90 % rh, and the setting accuracy is 0.5 % rh for humidity and 0.1 °C for temperature.

Loading, dimensions and installation

The stainless steel interior measures 1,040 x 1,200 x 850 mm (W x H x D), less 32 mm depth for the fan (Peltier). Up to 14 shelves fit, and two electropolished stainless steel grid shelves are part of the basic equipment. 200 kg are permitted for the whole unit and 60 kg per shelf. The chamber weighs about 251 kg net, stands mobile and lockable on castors, and has a fully galvanised sheet steel rear wall, while the housing outside is made of textured stainless steel. It is installed at +16 to +40 °C ambient temperature and a maximum of 70 % rel. humidity, non-condensing, up to 2,000 m above sea level. At least 15 cm distance to the rear wall is to be observed, 20 cm to the ceiling, 5 cm at the sides. It is transported upright only.

Control, programs and interfaces

The TwinDISPLAY consists of two high-resolution TFT colour graphic displays and an adaptive digital PID microprocessor controller. Two Pt100 sensors of DIN class A measure in 4-wire technology, monitor each other and take over the function of the other in the event of a fault. HeatBALANCE shifts the heating power between the upper and lower heating group by -50 to +50 %, and SetpointWAIT starts the process time only when the setpoint temperature has been reached. The countdown clock runs from 1 minute to 99 days and shows a target time. Three freely selectable values each can be calibrated for temperature and humidity. Programs are created, managed and transferred via Ethernet LAN or USB with the AtmoCONTROL software, and the program sequence remains saved in the event of a power failure. The user interface is available in nine languages.

Monitoring and alarm

An adjustable temperature monitor of protection class 3.3 is part of the standard equipment. AutoSAFETY follows the setpoint at a freely selectable interval, triggers an alarm on deviation, switches the heating function off when exceeded and the cooling function when fallen below. A self-diagnosis system checks temperature and humidity control, and the alarm appears visually and acoustically.

Selection guide: 1,060 litres or another size

The HPP1060eco fits if humidity up to 90 % rh is needed and the chamber is to run with humidity from as low as +5 °C. The smaller HPP750eco with 749 l has the same temperature and humidity ranges and likewise up to 14 shelves, while the HPP1060eco has more interior and carries 60 kg instead of 30 kg per shelf. The larger HPP1400eco (1,360 l) has up to 28 shelves with 30 kg each, but with humidity only +15 to +60 °C and 10 to 80 % rh apply. If samples are to be temperature-controlled below 0 °C, the Peltier chamber reaches its limit. The ICH750 climate chamber with 749 l and compressor cooling sets -10 to +60 °C, but is not suitable for permanent storage at sub-zero temperatures. It controls humidity from 10 to 80 % rh, and with humidity it works from +10 to +60 °C.

Available as factory options for the HPP1060eco are, among others, a temperature throttle to +60 °C, an interior socket (only with this throttle to max. +60 °C), lateral and individually positionable feedthroughs with 23 mm or 40 mm inner diameter, a 4-20 mA current interface, a lockable door, a potential-free contact for fault messages, a process-dependent programmable door lock, a door-open detection and MobileALERT by SMS. Accessories include additional stainless steel grid shelves, perforated trays and drip trays, a USB-Ethernet adapter, an Ethernet cable, the USB user ID stick, an FDA basic licence for AtmoCONTROL FDA, an external measuring device for temperature and humidity, and built-in frames.
