The IKA MultiDrive control MT Package (MPN 0010007083) redefines what a laboratory mill can achieve. It is the world’s first universal mill to combine coarse and fine grinding tasks with an integrated weighing function and intelligent RFID technology. The “MT Package” comes complete with the reusable MT 150 stainless steel grinding beaker and the necessary safety accessories, enabling you to work sustainably and cost-effectively.

The revolution: integrated weighing function

Forget the cumbersome process of separate weighing: placing the weighing pan on the balance, taring, weighing the sample, transferring the sample to the mill (spilling powder in the process), then starting the mill. With the MultiDrive control, you weigh directly into the grinding beaker! The unit features an integrated balance that displays the weight of your sample directly on the user-friendly TFT display. This offers massive advantages:

• No transfer loss: As you don’t need to transfer the sample, not a single milligram is lost – essential for expensive or potent active ingredients.
• Time savings: The workflow is significantly streamlined.
• Convenience: You can even create mixtures by weighing different components into the beaker one after the other (tare function).

The MT concept: sustainability and hygiene

The MT 150 grinding beaker is included in the scope of delivery. This is a high-quality stainless steel beaker with a hardened impact blade, designed for reusable use.

• Autoclavable: The entire beaker can be sterilised in an autoclave. This is a ‘must’ for microbiological, pharmaceutical or molecular biology applications where sterility must be guaranteed.
• Robust: Stainless steel and special-grade plastic withstand even the toughest conditions.
• Easy to clean: The beaker can be easily dismantled to prevent cross-contamination between different batches through thorough cleaning.

Power meets intelligence (RFID)

The brushless motor delivers a full 1,000 watts and accelerates the blade to up to 20,000 rpm. This allows you to grind hard, soft or fibrous samples (e.g. wood, tablets, meat, cereals) in seconds. The highlight, however, is the RFID-based vessel recognition: the base unit automatically detects which beaker has been fitted (e.g. the supplied MT 150 or the optionally available disposable beakers). The unit automatically adjusts the speed limits and safety settings to match the detected beaker. This virtually eliminates the risk of operating errors and protects both the user and the equipment.

Smart control via TFT display

Operation is via a crystal-clear TFT display with intuitive menu navigation. Here you have access to professional functions:

• Interval operation: Ideal for heat-sensitive samples. The mill pauses at defined intervals to allow the sample to cool and the ground material to settle.
• Temperature monitoring: (When used with optional temperature-sensing beakers), the instrument can monitor process heat and stop in the event of overheating.
• Programmable sequences: Save your grinding parameters to ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Safety and versatility

Safety is a top priority at IKA. The mill only starts if the beaker is correctly closed and the protective housing (TC 1, included in the scope of delivery) is in place. A motor brake stops the blade immediately upon opening. Another advantage is versatility: although this package includes the reusable beaker, the drive is compatible with IKA disposable beakers (Tube Mill System). So, if you ever have toxic samples where cleaning would be too dangerous, simply purchase a set of disposable beakers and use the same drive. “One Drive – Many Possibilities”.

Connectivity

For the Laboratory 4.0, the MultiDrive control features USB and Bluetooth interfaces. Document weigh-ins and process parameters directly in the labworldsoft laboratory software ® or control complex test series remotely.
