The Macherey-Nagel PF-12Plus compact photometer is a highly advanced, optoelectronic system solution for the precise, mobile and stationary analysis of water, wastewater and environmental samples. As a portable laboratory instrument, this photometer combines state-of-the-art filter photometry with maximum flexibility, whether used directly at the point of interest (POI) or in a traditional laboratory setting. When monitoring critical water parameters, industrial process water flows or municipal sewage treatment works, the accurate and rapid determination of substance concentrations is the primary criterion for documenting and controlling compliance with statutory limit values in a way that minimises damage to materials, ensures complete coverage and guarantees process reliability.

The optical architecture of the PF-12Plus is based on a long-life xenon flash lamp and a precisely coordinated sensor system with seven integrated interference filters. This spectral configuration enables reliable coverage of all relevant wavelengths for the analysis of Macherey-Nagel’s renowned VISOCOLOR ® ECO and NANOCOLOR ® round-cell tests. An outstanding mechatronic safety feature is the integrated nephelometric turbidity measurement (NTU-Check). This advanced monitoring function automatically detects interfering turbidity in the sample cuvette during the measurement process and reliably alerts the user to potential measurement errors – an invaluable advantage for analytical validity in harsh field conditions.

The photometer’s mechatronic system architecture is consistently designed for maximum user ergonomics and flexibility under changing environmental conditions. Over 100 pre-programmed methods for common parameters (such as ammonium, nitrate, nitrite, COD, phosphorus or heavy metals) enable error-free direct measurement without time-consuming calibration cycles. The splash-proof housing and intuitive menu navigation via the large, backlit graphic display ensure absolutely safe handling for laboratory and service staff. Thanks to flexible power management – optionally via batteries, rechargeable batteries, the integrated USB cable or an external power supply – uninterrupted operational readiness in the field is permanently guaranteed.

To support modern quality management in accordance with stringent GLP and GMP guidelines, the PF-12Plus features an internal data memory for up to 1,000 measurement results, including time, date and sample ID stamps. Via the integrated USB interface, the raw data can be transferred quickly and without damaging the samples to the free NANOCOLOR ® PC export software. This enables seamless digital archiving, statistical analysis and the convenient generation of certificates of analysis. The simple ability to independently verify instrument calibrations using certified test solutions meets the highest requirements of audited quality management systems.
