Memmert IF450plus Incubator 449 L TwinDISPLAY & forced-air circulation, on castors

The Memmert IF450plus incubator has an internal volume of 449 litres and external dimensions of 1,224 x 1,247 x 784 mm; models of this size and larger are fitted with castors as standard, allowing them to be moved and locked in place. Two stainless steel wire shelves are included as standard; up to eight shelves can be fitted, each designed to hold up to 30 kg instead of the 20 kg of the smaller models. Control is via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY with two TFT colour graphic displays.

Housing that can be moved and locked in place

The interior measures 1,040 x 720 x 600 mm (W x H x D); the structural steel housing is mounted on castors and can be moved or locked in place. The maximum total load capacity is 300 kg, with a maximum of 30 kg per drawer; the net weight is approximately 161 kg. The IF450plus is connected to a 230 V supply at approx. 1,800 W or to a 115 V supply at approx. 1,500 W, in both cases at 50/60 Hz. An internal modification to accommodate reinforced stainless steel perforated sheets or grating is available as a factory option.

Control, HeatBALANCE and programming

Two DIN Class A Pt100 sensors in a 4-wire configuration monitor each other and automatically take over the other’s function in the event of a fault. The setting accuracy is 0.1 °C, and the setting temperature range extends from +20 to +80 °C. HeatBALANCE adjusts the distribution of heating power between the upper and lower heating groups from -50 to +50 per cent, whilst SetpointWAIT only starts the process time once the setpoint temperature has been reached. Three freely selectable temperature values can be calibrated; programming is carried out via Ethernet or USB using AtmoCONTROL. A pre-programmed sterilisation programme sterilises the interior at 160 °C for 4 hours, but not the loaded contents.

Security and Alarms

A mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 in accordance with DIN 12880 switches off the heating when the temperature rises to approximately 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature; a temperature selector monitor in protection class 3.1 or an adjustable temperature limiter in protection class 2 are also available as options. AutoSAFETY automatically tracks the setpoint at a freely selectable interval, triggers a visual and audible alarm in the event of a deviation, and switches off the heater if the setpoint is exceeded. A self-diagnostic system assists with fault finding. The permissible ambient temperature range is +5 °C to +40 °C with a maximum relative humidity of 80 per cent (non-condensing), and the unit may be installed at altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level.

Guide to choosing the right size

If a mobile cabinet is not required and 256 litres is sufficient, the IF260plus is the more compact alternative and, at around 110 kg, significantly lighter. If even more shelves are required, the IF750plus offers the next level with a capacity of 749 litres and up to 14 shelves; it is also on castors and can be locked in place, see the size chart below.
