Memmert IF75plus incubator, 74 L, with TwinDISPLAY & forced air circulation

The Memmert IF75plus incubator has an internal volume of 74 litres and external dimensions of 585 x 944 x 514 mm; its footprint is the same as that of the IF55plus. Two stainless steel wire shelves are included as part of the Scope of delivery, and up to six shelves can be fitted. The forced air circulation is generated by an electronically controlled air turbine, regulated via TwinDISPLAY using two Pt100 sensors.

Interior: narrow and tall rather than wide

The interior measures 400 x 560 x 330 mm (W x H x D) and is reinforced by deep-drawn ribbing; the 4-sided all-round heating is integrated and protected. With an internal height of 560 mm, the IF75plus is taller than the next model up, the IF110plus, which has an internal height of 480 mm, but is narrower (400 mm instead of 560 mm). The IF75plus accommodates up to six racks, one more than the larger-capacity IF110plus, which holds five. The permissible total load is 120 kg, with a maximum of 20 kg per rack; the net weight is approximately 66 kg.

ControlCOCKPIT and process protection

Firstly, regarding safety: AutoSAFETY automatically monitors the temperature at a freely selectable margin from the setpoint and signals deviations visually and acoustically; independently of this, the mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 in accordance with DIN 12880 engages at around 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. Optionally, a Class 3.1 temperature selector monitor or an adjustable temperature limiter of Class 2 can be set on the display; a self-diagnostic system assists with fault finding. The temperature is measured by two DIN Class A Pt100 sensors that monitor each other; the setting accuracy is 0.1 °C, and the setting temperature range extends from +20 to +80 °C. HeatBALANCE distributes the heating power between the upper and lower heating groups by between -50 and +50 per cent; SetpointWAIT delays the start of the process until the setpoint temperature has been reached; and AtmoCONTROL manages programmes via Ethernet or USB. For internal sterilisation, there is a pre-set programme at 160 °C for 4 hours; this does not apply to any load placed inside the chamber. Operation is approved for ambient temperatures of +5 °C to +40 °C, a maximum relative humidity of 80 per cent (non-condensing) and installation altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level.

Guide to selecting the right size

For those incubating fewer batches at a time, the IF55plus (53 l) is a smaller benchtop unit. If more internal volume is required and five racks are sufficient instead of six, the IF110plus, with 108 litres, offers greater depth and width; see the size table below.
