Memmert IF750plus Incubator, 749 L, TwinDISPLAY & forced-air circulation, on castors

The Memmert IF750plus incubator has an internal volume of 749 litres and external dimensions of 1,224 x 1,720 x 784 mm; it is the largest model in the IF-plus series. Like the IF450plus, it is fitted as standard with castors that can be locked in place, and two stainless steel wire shelves are included as standard. Up to 14 shelves can be fitted; control is via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY with two Pt100 sensors that monitor each other.

Largest model, 14 shelves

The interior measures 1,040 x 1,200 x 600 mm (W x H x D); the structural stainless steel housing is mounted on castors that can be moved and locked in place. Compared with the IF450plus, only the internal height has increased (1,200 instead of 720 mm); the width and depth remain the same, whilst the maximum number of shelves rises from 8 to 14. As with the IF450plus, the permissible total load remains at 300 kg, with a maximum of 30 kg per shelf; the net weight is around 217 kg. The IF750plus is connected to a 230 V supply at approx. 2,000 W or to a 115 V supply at approx. 1,800 W, in both cases at 50/60 Hz.

Control, HeatBALANCE and programming

Control is based on two DIN Class A Pt100 sensors that monitor each other; in the event of a fault, they take over the function of the other. The setting accuracy is 0.1 °C within the setting range of +20 to +80 °C. HeatBALANCE redistributes the heating power between the upper and lower heating groups by between -50 and +50 per cent; SetpointWAIT only starts the process time once the setpoint temperature has been reached. Three freely selectable temperature values can be calibrated; AtmoCONTROL handles programming and management via Ethernet or USB. For internal sterilisation, there is a pre-set programme at 160 °C for 4 hours; any load introduced is expressly not included in this process.

Safety and Alarms

AutoSAFETY operates in parallel with the temperature control and triggers a visual and audible alarm at a freely selectable interval in the event of a deviation from the setpoint; if the setpoint is exceeded, it switches off the heating. Independently of this, when the temperature reaches approximately 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature, the mechanical temperature limiter (Protection Class 1 in accordance with DIN 12880) is activated; optionally, a Class 3.1 temperature selector monitor or an adjustable temperature limiter of Class 2 can also be activated via the display. A self-diagnostic system assists with fault finding. The permissible operating range extends from +5 °C to +40 °C ambient temperature at a maximum of 80 per cent relative humidity (non-condensing), up to an installation altitude of 2,000 m above sea level.

Selection guide for the right size

If 449 litres and eight shelves are sufficient, the smaller IF450plus, with a net weight of around 161 kg instead of 217 kg, is the obvious alternative; it is also mobile and lockable. For smaller batches without a mobile housing, the IF260plus with a capacity of 256 litres is suitable; see the size chart below.

As the largest model in the series, the IF750plus is designed for incubation and temperature-control processes involving many parallel batches and is used in research, medicine, pharmaceuticals, food analysis and food chemistry.
