IKA Recirculating Chiller RC 2 lite, Compact Laboratory Chiller, 400 W Cooling Capacity, 0025006624

Product information "IKA Recirculating Chiller RC 2 lite, Compact Laboratory Chiller, 400 W Cooling Capacity, 0025006624"

Anyone who operates a rotary evaporator, a jacketed vessel or a reflux condenser knows the problem of the open tap water circuit: as the outside temperature rises, the cooling effect falls, and water consumption drives up costs and effort. The IKA RC 2 lite recirculating chiller replaces this open circuit with a closed, PID-controlled refrigeration circuit and delivers up to 400 watts of cooling capacity at 20 degrees Celsius, constant and independent of the season or the water pressure in the laboratory.

Cooling capacity from room temperature down to minus 10 degrees Celsius

The cooling capacity of the RC 2 lite falls as expected as the target temperature drops: 400 watts at 20 degrees, 350 watts at 10 degrees, 250 watts at 0 degrees and still 140 watts at minus 10 degrees Celsius. The working temperature range extends from minus 10 degrees Celsius to room temperature, and with an external heater the bath can additionally be operated up to 70 degrees Celsius. Control is handled by a PID controller with a PT1000 sensor and LED display. The temperature stability is ±0.5 kelvin according to DIN 12876, and the display resolution and setting accuracy are each 0.1 kelvin.

Natural refrigerant R290 to DIN 12876 Class I

The refrigerant used is R290, a natural, halogen-free hydrocarbon refrigerant, filled with 76 grams at a maximum permissible pressure of 21 bar. According to DIN 12876, the RC 2 lite is classified as Class I with the marking NFL and is therefore intended for operation with non-flammable liquids. Practical note: R290 (propane) is itself flammable, so, as with all laboratory equipment using a hydrocarbon refrigerant, we recommend a sufficiently ventilated installation location without open ignition sources in the immediate vicinity of the unit.

Recirculating chiller, circulating thermostat or heating bath: choosing the right design

Within the IKA temperature control family, three designs can be distinguished: pure recirculating chillers such as the RC 2 lite only cool, refrigerated heating circulators such as the HRC 2 series cool and heat in one unit, and heating baths such as the HB digital heat without an active cooling function. The following overview compares the cooling capacity at different target temperatures:

RC 2 lite, RC 2 basic or RC 2 GREEN control: the right specification level

The RC 2 lite is the compact entry-level version of the IKA recirculating chiller series for pure cooling tasks down to minus 10 degrees Celsius, with the climate-friendly refrigerant R290. Anyone who prefers pure cooling with the synthetic refrigerant R134a and a cooling capacity of 400 watts will find it in the IKA RC 2 basic. Anyone looking for a more powerful version will find it in the IKA RC 2 GREEN control, which likewise uses the natural refrigerant R290 and, according to IKA, has roughly double the output of the previous device generation. If the same unit has to heat actively as well as cool, for example for temperature cycles between minus 10 and 100 degrees Celsius, the IKA HRC 2 lite is the right choice. It is identical in construction to the RC 2 lite, but with an additional 1000-watt heater and an extended working range.

Typical applications

As an external cooling source with a closed circuit, the RC 2 lite is suitable for the following, among others:

  • Cooling of rotary evaporators, for example the IKA RV 10 digital V-C or the IKA RV 3 V-C, as a replacement for the open tap water circuit
  • Cooling of reflux condensers in syntheses and extractions
  • Cooling source for devices that dissipate heat via a heat exchanger, for example double-walled grinding vessels, cooled incubators, laboratory reactors or cooling coils

Connection, installation and ongoing operation

The integrated pressure/suction pump reaches a maximum flow rate of 18 litres per minute at a maximum pump pressure of 0.35 bar on the pressure side and 0.15 bar on the suction side, connected via M16x1 threaded connections. The scope of delivery includes two hose nozzles for DN 8 hoses, which allow standard cooling water hoses to be connected directly. The filling volume of the internal bath is between 1 and 3.5 litres. RS232 and USB-B are available for connection to a PC or process control system, for example for logging temperature profiles. With a noise level of 51 dB(A) and a permissible duty cycle of 100 per cent, the RC 2 lite is designed for continuous operation in everyday laboratory use. The permissible ambient temperature range is 5 to 32 degrees Celsius at a maximum of 80 per cent relative humidity.

Which cooling capacity for which rotary evaporator

The decisive factor in choosing the right cooling capacity is the target temperature of the respective evaporation process: if a cooling bath at around 0 degrees Celsius is sufficient, the RC 2 lite still has 250 watts of cooling capacity available, and at minus 10 degrees Celsius it is 140 watts. The lower the required target temperature or the higher the solvent throughput at the rotary evaporator, the more worthwhile it is to consider a more powerful specification level such as the RC 2 GREEN control. The pump capacity also plays a role when connecting external devices: a maximum flow rate of 18 litres per minute at 0 bar back pressure is sufficient for most laboratory reactors and rotary evaporators at a direct installation distance. With longer hose runs or several consumers connected in series, the actual flow rate falls accordingly because of the rising line resistance, so the shortest possible hose routing lets the full pump capacity reach the consumer.

Regulatory information

As an electrical device, the RC 2 lite is subject to the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) and is registered with Stiftung EAR under WEEE registration number DE 66784213. At the end of its service life, the device must not be disposed of with household waste but must be taken to a separate collection point for waste electrical equipment. The refrigerant R290 contained in the refrigeration circuit must be removed professionally by an approved refrigerant recovery company before disposal.

Frequently asked questions about the RC 2 lite

Can the RC 2 lite also heat?
No, the RC 2 lite is a pure recirculating chiller. Heating the bath above room temperature is only possible with an external heater up to a maximum of 70 degrees Celsius. If an integrated heater is required, the IKA HRC 2 lite is the suitable alternative.

Which hoses fit the RC 2 lite?
The pump connections are designed as M16x1 threads, and two hose nozzles for DN 8 hoses are included in the scope of delivery.

Is R290 as a refrigerant harmless in everyday laboratory use?
R290 is a natural but flammable hydrocarbon refrigerant. For operation, we recommend a sufficiently ventilated installation location without open ignition sources in the immediate vicinity, as is usual for all devices with this type of refrigerant.

How loud is the RC 2 lite in continuous operation?
The noise level is 51 dB(A), and the device is designed for a duty cycle of 100 per cent.

Can the RC 2 lite be integrated into laboratory software?
Yes, the existing RS232 and USB-B interfaces allow the device to be connected to a PC or process control system.

How does the RC 2 lite differ from the RC 2 GREEN control?
Both are pure recirculating chillers with the natural refrigerant R290. The RC 2 GREEN control is the higher-specification, current version with, according to IKA, roughly double the output of the previous device generation, while the RC 2 lite is positioned as a compact entry-level model for applications down to minus 10 degrees Celsius.

Is the pump capacity sufficient for several connected devices?
The maximum flow rate of 18 l/min at 0 bar back pressure applies to a direct connection. With longer hose runs or several consumers in series, the flow actually available falls because of the line resistance, so a short hose routing is preferable.

IKA Inkubationsschüttler KS 4000 ic control (mit Kühlung)
IKA KS 4000 ic control Incubating Shaker (with Cooling), 0003510100
Herstellernummer: 0003510100

Anyone who lets cell cultures or microbiological samples shake unattended overnight needs temperature control that also works below room temperature. The IKA KS 4000 ic control combines an orbital shaking motion with PID-controlled heating up to 80 degrees Celsius and a built-in cooling coil. Together with an externally connected circulation chiller, the 90 litre internal chamber reaches temperatures down to room temperature minus 10 degrees. Without this chiller, the device works as an incubating shaker with heating, entirely without active cooling.PID control from minus 10 to 80 degrees CelsiusTwo PT1000 temperature sensors and an integrated PID controller hold the set temperature with a setting accuracy of 0.1 kelvin. With a vessel containing 0.5 litre of water, 22 degrees room temperature and 37 degrees set temperature, the control accuracy is ±0.5 kelvin and the temperature stability is ±0.05 kelvin. With 0.2 litre of water at 25 degrees room temperature and 37 degrees set temperature, the stability falls to ±0.1 kelvin. Spread over five vessels of 0.5 litre each, the homogeneity in the interior is ±0.5 kelvin. A large LED display shows speed and temperature, and an additional connection socket in the working space takes a further PT1000 sensor, for example the supplied PT 1000.60 made of stainless steel.Cooling coil and external circulation chiller belong togetherThe KS 4000 ic control has no compressor of its own and no refrigerant circuit of its own. The built-in cooling coil needs an externally connected circulation chiller, and IKA names models such as the RC 2 lite, the RC 2 basic or the RC 2 control for this. LT Laborhandel also carries the IKA RC 5 control for this purpose, with 1400 watt cooling capacity down to minus 30 degrees. Without a connected chiller, the temperature range remains limited to room temperature up to 80 degrees. Anyone who knows from the outset that work will only be done above room temperature saves the chiller and chooses the otherwise identical KS 4000 i control (ident no. 0003510000) without a cooling coil.20 kilograms shaking load at 20 millimetre orbitThe orbital motion has a shaking orbit of 20 millimetres and carries up to 20 kilograms of shaking material including attachment. The speed ranges from 10 to 500 revolutions per minute, adjustable in steps of 1 rpm, with a deviation of ±5 rpm. The motor draws 82 watts and delivers 24 watts, designed for a duty cycle of 100 per cent. The electronic timer covers 0 to 999 hours, optionally in timer or continuous operation, with a 7-segment LED display for the remaining time.Safety and everyday operationIn the event of a fault, the device switches off automatically, and likewise when the hood is opened during operation. The controls have an antimicrobial coating, and a drip tray with a drain hose at the back of the device catches spilled liquid. Via the RS-232 interface, the KS 4000 ic control can be connected to the laboratory device software labworldsoft, for documenting temperature, speed and time. The housing is made of powder-coated sheet steel, the front foil of polyester.Typical applicationsMicrobiological cultures with a cooling requirement below room temperatureCell cultivation with tight tolerances for temperature stability and homogeneityUnmonitored shaking operation overnight or over the weekendDocumented temperature control via labworldsoft in quality-assured laboratoriesTechnical detailsType of motionorbital, shaking orbit 20 mmPermissible shaking load (incl. attachment)20 kgSpeed range10 to 500 rpm, steps 1 rpm, deviation ±5 rpmMotor power input / output82 W / 24 WHeating power1000 WTemperature range (with external circulation chiller)Room temp. -10 °C to 80 °CControl accuracy / stability (0.5 l, 37 °C)±0.5 K / ±0.05 KHomogeneity (5 vessels 0.5 l, 37 °C)±0.5 KTimerelectronic, 0 to 999 h, timer and continuous operationWorking area internal chamber (W x H x D)440 x 440 x 352 mmTotal volume internal chamber90 lMaterial housing / front foilPowder-coated sheet steel / polyester foilRS 232 interfaceyesProtection classIP 30 (DIN EN 60529)Dimensions (W x H x D)580 x 520 x 750 mmWeight55 kgConnected load230 V, 50/60 Hz, 1120 W, fuse 2x T10A 250VScope of delivery1 x KS 4000 ic control1 x PT 1000.60 temperature sensor, stainless steel4 x clamping screws short (for fixing the attachment)2 x clamping screws long (for fixing the attachment)Attachments such as the universal attachment or retaining clips are not included and must be ordered together with the device to suit the application. IKA grants a manufacturer's warranty of 2 years for the KS 4000, extended to 5 years with registration at ika.com/register within 90 days of purchase. As an electrical device, the KS 4000 ic control falls under the WEEE directive and must not be disposed of with household waste at the end of its life. Via the procurement service of LT Laborhandel, circulation chillers, attachments and further accessories can be ordered together to suit the application.

Promotional item from the IKA Specials Q4/2026, valid until 31 December 2026. The crossed-out price is IKA's non-binding recommended retail price. Our promotional price is net.Glass breakage under vacuum is rare, but when it happens, the coating of the condenser decides whether splinters remain controlled inside the condenser jacket or are released. The IKA RV 3 V-C rotary evaporator is therefore built on the same drive and heating bath combination as the RV 3 V base package, but replaces the uncoated glassware with coated vertical glassware RV 10.10. The RV 3 eco drive unit with manual lift and the HB eco S099 water heating bath up to 99 degrees Celsius remain identical, supplemented by an additional NS 29 clamp for the coated glassware. For training laboratories or workstations with higher safety requirements, this is an obvious extra cost compared with the uncoated base package. Selection guide: RV 3, RV 8 or RV 10, and which specification level?Within the RV 3 series, the RV 3 V and RV 3 V-C differ only in the glassware version: uncoated for the RV 3 V, coated for the RV 3 V-C. Both share the drive, heating bath, speed range and heating temperature range up to 99 degrees Celsius. Anyone who needs higher temperatures up to 180 degrees Celsius will only find this specification from the RV 8 series onwards. The following overview classifies the five common complete packages of the RV series. Model designationIKA RV 3 V  |  RV 3 V-C  |  RV 8 V  |  RV 10 digital V Starter Solution  |  RV 10 auto pro V-C Liftmanual | manual | manual (hand lift) | motor with safety stop | motor with safety stop Control leveleco | eco | heating bath with digital display | digital | auto, with integrated vacuum controller Condenser coatinguncoated | coated | uncoated | uncoated | coated Cooling surface1500 cm² for all five versions Speed range20 to 300 rpm | 20 to 300 rpm | 5 to 300 rpm | 5 to 280 rpm | 5 to 300 rpm Stroke150 mm  |  150 mm  |  120 mm  |  140 mm  |  140 mm Heating temperature rangeRoom temp. to 99 °C | Room temp. to 99 °C | Room temp. to 180 °C | Room temp. to 180 °C | Room temp. to 180 °C Vacuum pump in setno | no | no | yes, VACSTAR lite with VC 10 lite controller | yes, VACSTAR digital Recirculating chiller in setno | no | no | yes, RC 2 lite | no Differentiation within the RV familyAnyone who can do without the glass coating and would like to save a little will find, in the IKA RV 3 V rotary evaporator the same drive and heating bath combination with uncoated glassware. Anyone who needs higher heating bath temperatures up to 180 degrees Celsius and a wider speed range is better served by the IKA RV 8 V . For laboratories that also want an integrated vacuum pump in the set, the Pro version IKA RV 3 pro V-C Complete rotary evaporator is the next step up. Since the RV 3 V-C includes neither a vacuum pump nor a recirculating chiller, we recommend the IKA RC 2 lite recirculating chiller, which according to the manufacturer is expressly intended for cooling rotary evaporators. Anyone who is unsure whether the coating is really needed in their own laboratory can compare the two RV 3 versions directly using the identical technical data and base the decision solely on the glass question. Typical applicationsThe RV 3 V-C rotary evaporator is suitable for the same applications as the uncoated base package, with the additional safety aspect of the glass coating: Routine solvent evaporation and recovery where additional splinter protection is wanted when working under vacuum Concentrating aqueous samples and extracts as part of sample preparation Teaching and training laboratories in which coated glass is required or recommended for safety reasons Budget-oriented equipping of second or replacement workstations with higher safety requirements Chemistry, pharmaceuticals, bioindustry, research and development, production and quality assurance, and plant engineering as the fields of application named by the manufacturer Manual vacuum control and the role of the glass coatingAs with the uncoated RV 3 V, pressure control without an integrated vacuum controller lies with the separately procured vacuum pump or an upstream vacuum controller. Applying the vacuum slowly and step by step at the start of the process reduces the risk of bumping and mechanical stress on the glass. This is exactly where the coating of the RV 10.10 glassware comes in: it does not replace careful operation, but in the unlikely event of glass breakage under vacuum it reduces the risk of splinters flying around, because the coating holds them back inside the condenser jacket. For operations with safety briefings or training requirements, this is a factually understandable reason to accept the extra cost of the V-C version compared with the uncoated RV 3 V. Use, installation and maintenanceThe drive unit is designed for ambient temperatures of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of up to 80 per cent, protection class IP 20 according to DIN EN 60529. The manual lift requires somewhat more attention than a motorised lift when raising and lowering the glassware. The additional NS 29 clamp secures the coated RV 10.10 glassware and should be checked regularly for a firm fit, so that the coating can actually develop its protective effect in the event of glass breakage. The HB eco water heating bath should be checked regularly for water level and limescale deposits. The RV 10.8001 seal on the vapour duct is a wearing part and should be the first thing to check if vacuum tightness declines. The drive unit is operated at 100 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 hertz and draws up to 1400 watts, so a normal laboratory socket is sufficient for operation. Since the coating is a surface layer on the glass, gentle handling without abrasive aids is advisable when cleaning, so that it reliably keeps its protective function over the entire service life of the glassware and is not damaged prematurely by mechanical abrasion. At the end of its service life, the statutory take-back obligation applies, and disposal with household waste is excluded. Investment logic: what is in the set, what is still missing? The drive, heating bath and coated glassware are already covered by the RV 3 V-C, but for operation under vacuum a vacuum pump of its own is missing, and for a closed cooling circuit a recirculating chiller such as the IKA RC 2 lite. Anyone who can foresee needing higher heating bath temperatures or an integrated vacuum pump should rather go straight to the RV 8 V or to the Pro version RV 3 pro V-C Complete than retrofit, since the heating bath and drive cannot be replaced afterwards. The extra cost compared with the uncoated RV 3 V is limited to the glassware, and all other investment decisions for vacuum pump and chiller are identical for both versions. Anyone who already operates an uncoated RV 3 V in the laboratory and wants to procure a second device with higher safety requirements can share the vacuum pump and recirculating chiller unchanged between both devices, since nothing changes in the connection values. Frequently asked questions Why is the glassware coated? The coating of the RV 10.10 vertical glassware offers additional splinter protection should the glass break under vacuum. Is a vacuum pump included in the scope of delivery? No, the package contains the drive, heating bath and glassware. A vacuum pump has to be procured separately for operation under vacuum. How hot does the heating bath get? The HB eco water heating bath heats from room temperature up to 99 degrees Celsius. For higher temperatures, the RV 8 V with oil heating bath is more suitable. How does the device differ from the RV 3 V? Drive, heating bath and speed range are identical. The only difference is the coated instead of uncoated glassware together with the additional NS 29 clamp. Which recirculating chiller suits this device? The manufacturer expressly names the cooling of rotary evaporators as a field of application for the IKA RC 2 lite. How is the lift operated? The lift is manual, with a stroke of 150 mm, without a motor or programming. Is the extra cost compared with the uncoated model worthwhile? That depends on the safety requirements of the respective workstation. Technically, the drive, heating bath and speed range are identical in both versions. Is the additional NS 29 clamp only needed for this device? It belongs specifically to the coated RV 10.10 glassware and is therefore part of the scope of delivery of the RV 3 V-C, but not of the uncoated RV 3 V. IKA RV 8 Rotationsverdampfer mit Trockeneiskühler, beschichtet, Heizbad HB 10, bis 300 rpm
IKA RV 8 rotary evaporator with dry ice cooler, coated glass, 0010006360
Herstellernummer: 0010006360

The IKA RV 8 rotary evaporator with dry ice cooler (coated) represents a specialised, mechatronic system solution for highly efficient distillation and solvent recovery, which operates entirely independently of a conventional cooling water infrastructure. Designed as a professional entry-level model, this setup is ideally suited for use in laboratories where no running cooling water is available, or for processes in which extremely volatile, low-boiling-point solvents (such as ether or acetone) need to be condensed reliably and without significant emissions. When thermally separating complex mixtures of substances under vacuum, the precise interplay of mechanical rotational stability and maximum cryogenic condensation capacity guarantees gentle and reproducible operation. Ergonomic mechanics and precise process control The mechanical system architecture of the RV 8 is characterised by a perfectly balanced, manual lift. The entire glass assembly can be moved vertically with minimal effort. An integrated, mechanically adjustable end stop (Safety Stop) protects the glass assembly from accidental collision with the bottom of the heating bath or surrounding laboratory equipment. The ergonomic one-handed operation is optimally accessible for both right- and left-handed users. Precise control of the surface area is ensured by the digital LED display, which continuously shows the rotational speed. This can be adjusted with high precision from 5 to 300 revolutions per minute using a stepless rotary control, to ensure uniform film formation on the inner wall of the flask. Universal heating bath with high thermodynamic energy density The process engineering foundation for thermal energy transfer is provided by the HB digital universal water-oil heating bath, which is included in the scope of delivery. With a heating power of 1,300 watts, the bath achieves extremely short heat-up times and allows for a flexible operating temperature range from room temperature up to 180 °C. The system thus covers a wide range of applications, from conventional evaporation processes to high-boiling-point distillations. A clear digital display clearly shows the setpoint and actual temperatures. The ergonomically designed heating bath features integrated safety handles for safe handling and is structurally designed so that it can be moved flexibly within its footprint to optimally adjust the immersion depth of the evaporating flask. Maximum condensation capacity thanks to a coated dry-ice cooler The standout feature of this model variant is the vertical dry-ice cooler. Instead of a conventional cooling coil, the cooling jacket is filled with a mixture of dry ice and acetone (or a comparable cryogenic medium), enabling extremely low condensation temperatures of up to –78 °C to be achieved. This guarantees the near-complete capture of even the most volatile solvent vapours. To ensure uncompromising occupational safety, the entire glass assembly is encased in a transparent, highly resistant plastic safety coating (Coated). This protective layer minimises the risk of glass breakage due to mechanical impact and, in the critical event of an implosion under vacuum, prevents glass shards and toxic substances from flying about uncontrollably. IKA Rotary Evaporator RV 8 V, Hand Lift Set with Heating Bath up to 180 °C and Glassware, 0010003482
IKA Rotary Evaporator RV 8 V, Hand Lift Set with Heating Bath up to 180 °C and Glassware, 0010003482
Herstellernummer: 0010003482

When a distillation needs a heating bath temperature above 99 degrees Celsius, for example with higher-boiling solvents or oil bath operation, a simple water heating bath is no longer sufficient. The IKA RV 8 V rotary evaporator is designed for exactly this case: the RV 8 drive unit with manual hand lift works together with the HB digital S099 water/oil heating bath, which heats up to 180 degrees Celsius and shows the temperature digitally. The package is completed by uncoated vertical glassware and a Woulff safety bottle, which protects against suck-back into the vacuum system. The RV 8 V thus covers the gap between the compact RV 3 entry-level package and the fully automated RV 10 packages, for laboratories that need higher temperatures but still want to work manually. Selection guide: RV 3, RV 8 or RV 10, and which specification level? The RV 8 series differs from the RV 3 series mainly in the heating bath: instead of a pure water bath up to 99 degrees Celsius, the RV 8 V uses a water/oil heating bath with digital temperature display and a heating temperature range up to 180 degrees Celsius, plus a wider speed range from 5 instead of 20 rpm. The following overview classifies the five common complete packages of the RV series. For laboratories that also want an integrated vacuum pump in the set, the Pro version IKA RV 8 pro V-C Complete rotary evaporator is the next step up. Since the RV 8 V includes neither a vacuum pump nor a recirculating chiller, we recommend the IKA RC 2 lite recirculating chiller, which according to the manufacturer is expressly intended for cooling rotary evaporators. Within the RV 8 family itself, the specification can thus be adapted step by step without having to switch to a different size. Typical applicationsThe RV 8 V rotary evaporator is suitable wherever higher heating bath temperatures up to 180 degrees Celsius are needed: Distillation and concentration of higher-boiling solvents in an oil bath Routine operation in chemistry and QA laboratories with changing temperature requirements between aqueous and oil-bath-suitable batches Natural product chemistry and extract concentration, where a wider speed range is helpful for different viscosities Applications with a suck-back risk, where the supplied Woulff bottle serves as an additional safety stage Chemistry, pharmaceuticals, bioindustry, research and development, production and quality assurance, and plant engineering as the fields of application named by the manufacturer Manual vacuum control at higher process temperaturesSince the RV 8 V works without an integrated vacuum controller, pressure control lies with the separately procured vacuum pump or an upstream vacuum controller. In oil bath operation near the upper temperature limit of 180 degrees Celsius, the vapour pressure of many solvents rises considerably faster than in the aqueous low-temperature range, which is why applying the vacuum slowly and step by step is particularly worthwhile to avoid bumping and foaming. The supplied RV 3.4 Woulff bottle serves here as an additional safety stage: should a back-up nevertheless occur, it catches condensate before it reaches the vacuum line or the pump. The hand lift with 120 millimetres of stroke also allows the flask to be raised quickly out of the hot oil bath if the process has to be interrupted at short notice. Use, installation and maintenanceThe drive unit is designed for ambient temperatures of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of up to 80 per cent, protection class IP 20 according to DIN EN 60529. When operating the HB digital oil heating bath near the upper temperature limit of 180 degrees Celsius, attention must be paid to a sufficient oil level and intact carrying handles, since the bath becomes correspondingly hot at these temperatures. The RV 3.4 Woulff bottle should be emptied regularly and checked for tightness so that it reliably protects against suck-back of condensate into the vacuum line in an emergency. The RV 10.8001 seal on the vapour duct is a wearing part and should be the first thing to check if vacuum tightness declines. The drive unit is operated at 100 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 hertz and draws up to 1500 watts, slightly more than with the RV 3 V, which should be taken into account when fusing the laboratory connection. After the oil heating bath has cooled down, it should additionally be ensured before relocating or transporting it that no residual oil can escape, especially if the carrying handles are used for transport, since these rest directly against the hot heating bath and can retain residual heat for longer. A vacuum pump and a recirculating chiller are not part of the scope of delivery. 1 x RV 8 drive unit with manual hand lift 1 x HB digital S099 water/oil heating bath, up to 180 °C, with carrying handles 1 x RV 10.1 glassware, vertical, uncoated (ident no. 0003655300) 1 x RV 10.70 vapour duct tube (NS 29/32) 1 x RV 10.8001 seal 1 x RV 3.4 Woulff bottle (ident no. 0025004588) Regulatory informationAs an electrical device, the RV 8 V falls within the scope of the WEEE Directive (ElektroG) and bears the IKA registration number DE 66784213. After the end of its service life, the statutory take-back obligation applies, and disposal with household waste is not permitted. Investment logic: what is in the set, what is still missing? The drive, heating bath, glassware and suck-back protection are already covered by the RV 8 V, but for operation under vacuum a vacuum pump of its own is missing, and for a closed cooling circuit a recirculating chiller such as the IKA RC 2 lite. Anyone who additionally wants coated glass or an integrated vacuum pump will find this specification in the RV 8 V-C or in the Pro version RV 8 pro V-C Complete, without the drive and heating bath base having to change. For laboratories with occasional need for higher temperatures, the RV 8 V is therefore the obvious addition to an existing RV 3 device, rather than replacing it completely. Since the RV 3 and RV 8 both lack a vacuum pump and recirculating chiller in the same way, both devices can ideally be operated via a shared, already existing vacuum and cooling water infrastructure, which considerably reduces the investment in a second, larger device. Frequently asked questions How hot does the heating bath get? The HB digital water/oil heating bath heats from room temperature up to 180 degrees Celsius, considerably more than the pure water bath of the RV 3 series. Is a vacuum pump included in the scope of delivery? No, the package contains the drive, heating bath, glassware and a Woulff safety bottle. A vacuum pump has to be procured separately. What is the Woulff bottle for? As a safety bottle, it protects against condensate being sucked back into the vacuum line or the pump in the event of a pressure surge. Is the glassware coated? No, the RV 8 V includes the uncoated RV 10.1 glassware. The coated version is available as the RV 8 V-C. How is the lift operated? The hand lift is manual, with a stroke of 120 mm. Which recirculating chiller suits this device? The manufacturer expressly names the cooling of rotary evaporators as a field of application for the IKA RC 2 lite. What power consumption does the drive unit have? Up to 1500 watts at 100 to 240 volts and 50 or 60 hertz, slightly more than the RV 3 versions with 1400 watts. Can I also operate the oil heating bath with water only? For water operation up to 99 degrees Celsius, the RV 3 V or RV 3 V-C is designed by construction. The HB digital of the RV 8 V is specifically designed for the extended temperature range up to 180 degrees Celsius with oil. IKA RV 8 Rotationsverdampfer mit Trockeneiskühler, Heizbad HB 10, bis 300 rpm
IKA RV 8 Rotary Evaporator with Dry Ice Cooler, HB 10 Heating Bath, up to 300 rpm, 0010006361
Herstellernummer: 0010006361

The RV 8 with dry-ice cooler replaces the traditional water cooler with an RV 10.4 dry-ice cooler, which operates using dry ice instead of running cooling water. This makes the unit an attractive option for anyone who distils low-boiling solvents and either does not have a water supply at their workstation or wishes to avoid using a recirculating cooler. The drive unit is based on the glass-free RV 8 FLEX, supplemented by a dry-ice cooler, an evaporator flask and a receiving flask. The hand lift is operated manually, without a motorised lift or a vacuum controller.Cooling without a water supplyInstead of running cooling water through hoses, the user fills the RV 10.4 dry-ice cooler with dry ice and acetone or isopropanol. For laboratories without a permanent cooling water connection or with limited space for a recirculating chiller, this is a straightforward alternative, particularly for solvents that boil even at low temperatures and push water cooling to its limits. Like the rest of the RV 10 glassware range, the cooler can be mounted on the drive.Manual lift and flask changeThe manual lift raises and lowers the flask over a stroke of 120 millimetres; the one-handed operation is suitable for both right- and left-handed users. An integrated ‘lift-out’ safety function automatically lifts the flask out of the heating bath in the event of a power cut. The clamping mechanism with a push-out device simplifies the replacement of the 1,000-millilitre RV 10.84 evaporating flask between runs; the RV 10.102 receiving flask has a capacity of 500 millilitres.Heating bath and safetyThe HB 10 heating bath heats up to 180 degrees Celsius with a setting accuracy of 1 Kelvin and has a maximum capacity of 4 l. Carrying handles facilitate transport, whilst a key-operated button locks the set temperature to prevent accidental adjustment. A 24-volt DC circuit within the unit reduces the risk associated with mains-voltage components; the heating power is 1,300 watts. The unit operates on a mains supply of 100 to 240 volts with a power consumption of 1,400 watts.Typical applicationsDistillation of low-boiling-point solvents without a cooling water connection at the workstationMobile or temporary laboratory set-ups where a water-cooling circuit is not practicalAs a supplement to existing RV-8 or RV-10 systems, serving as a second unit independent of cooling waterProcesses with fluctuating cooling water pressure, where dry ice provides a more consistent cooling capacitySelection guide: the RV-8 range at a glanceSix RV-8 models are available from LT Laborhandel. IKA RV 3 Rotationsverdampfer mit Trockeneiskühler, beschichtet, Heizbad HB eco, bis 300 rpm
IKA RV 3 Rotary Evaporator with Dry Ice Condenser, Coated, HB eco Heating Bath, up to 300 rpm, 0010006362
Herstellernummer: 0010006362

The coated version of the RV 3 with dry ice condenser differs from the uncoated version in having coated glassware, which holds the splinters together if it breaks instead of scattering them around the laboratory. The drive, condenser and operating concept correspond to the uncoated RV 3 with dry ice condenser, and only the evaporating flask, receiving flask and RV 10.40 dry ice condenser are coated. For laboratories working with corrosive, toxic or otherwise critical solvents, this is a sensible additional protection without compromises in the technology. Like the uncoated model, this version also comes with an evaporating flask of 1,000 millilitres volume and a receiving flask of 1,000 millilitres volume, both in coated design.Coating as splinter protectionThe coated glass parts stay together even if they crack or break. This reduces the risk of cuts and prevents solvent residues from escaping uncontrolled. Especially in dry ice operation, where the condenser and flasks are subjected to greater stress from temperature changes than with pure water cooling, this additional protection is a standard procurement criterion for many laboratories.Technology and operation as with the uncoated modelThe speed can be set between 20 and 300 revolutions per minute with a rotary knob, with a tolerance of ±1 rpm below and ±1 per cent above 100 rpm. The manual lift has a stroke of 150 millimetres, and a locking mechanism with a red indicator marks the unlocked position of the vapour duct tube. The flask clamp with integrated push-off device allows the evaporating flask to be changed with one hand, and internally the device works with 24-volt extra-low voltage.Connected load and dimensionsOn the mains, the device runs at 100 to 240 volts and 1400 watts device power consumption. The protection class IP 20 according to DIN EN 60529 and the permissible ambient range of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius at up to 80 per cent humidity correspond to the usual conditions in a laboratory room. With a footprint of 440 x 530 x 330 millimetres and a weight of 28.3 kilograms, the device, like its uncoated sibling model, needs a fixed, stable position.Accessories and expansionLike the uncoated dry ice condenser version, this device is also compatible with the entire RV 10-compatible accessory platform from IKA. A second coated set of glassware, a vacuum pump such as the VACSTAR lite or recirculating cooling can be retrofitted if the requirements in the laboratory change later. For ongoing operation with dry ice, a standard cooling medium in the condenser jacket is sufficient, and no additional power connection is needed for it.Choice of coolant and handling in everyday useIn practice, the condenser is filled with crushed dry ice, mixed with a solvent such as isopropanol or acetone so that the cold is distributed evenly around the cooling coils. Because dry ice sublimates continuously, refilling is routine during longer distillations, as with the uncoated version. The coating of the condenser and flasks does not change this. It only provides additional protection against splinters and leaking solvent in the event of breakage. Cold-protection gloves are sensible when handling dry ice, as pure dry ice can cause frostbite on direct skin contact.Typical applicationsDistillation of solvents where glass breakage would be particularly criticalLaboratories with increased safety requirements for glasswareLow-boiling solvents without a cooling water connection, as with the uncoated versionTraining laboratories in which splinter protection is part of the safety conceptSelection guide: coated or uncoatedAnyone who does not need additional splinter protection saves money with the uncoated dry ice condenser version. IKA RV 3 FLEX Rotationsverdampfer, ohne Glassatz, Heizbad HB eco, bis 300 rpm
IKA RV 3 FLEX Rotary Evaporator, without Glassware, HB eco Heating Bath, up to 300 rpm, 0010003331
Herstellernummer: 0010003331

The RV 3 FLEX is the drive unit of the IKA RV 3 series, without its own glassware and without a condenser. Anyone who already owns glassware from the RV 10 series or wants to put together the condenser and flasks themselves saves the double purchase with this version. Operation deliberately remains simple: a rotary knob controls the speed, a scale shows the set value, and a display or an interface for remote control is absent on this entry-level model. The supplied HB eco heating bath holds 4 litres and heats up to 99 degrees Celsius. As the entry-level model of the IKA rotary evaporators, the RV 3 is aimed equally at chemistry, pharmaceuticals, bioindustry and training, wherever a solid basic setup matters more than additional functions.Manual operation with a simple safety conceptThe speed can be set continuously between 20 and 300 revolutions per minute, with a tolerance of ±1 rpm below and ±1 per cent above 100 rpm. The lift is operated manually and has a stroke of 150 millimetres. A mechanical end stop limits the upward movement, and the immersion angle of the flask can be set freely. A locking mechanism with a red indicator shows when the vapour duct tube is unlocked, and the flask clamp with integrated push-off device makes it easier to change the evaporating flask with one hand, regardless of whether you work right-handed or left-handed. Internally, the device works with 24-volt extra-low voltage, which reduces the risk at the flask compared with components carrying mains voltage.Heating bath and connected loadThe HB eco heating bath holds up to 4 litres of water or oil and heats from room temperature up to 99 degrees Celsius. Carrying handles make it easier to move between workstations, and the digital temperature display makes the set temperature readable at all times. On the mains, the RV 3 FLEX runs at 100 to 240 volts and 1400 watts device power consumption, so it can be operated on most European and international mains supplies without a separate voltage converter, an advantage over devices with a fixed mains voltage.Accessories from the RV 10 platformThe RV 3 FLEX is compatible with all glassware of the IKA RV 10 series. Anyone who equips the drive unit with vertical or diagonal glassware, a dry ice condenser or a vertical condenser therefore draws on the same accessory range as for the other RV series. Safety accessories such as the VSS 1 vacuum safety set, a protective cover for the heating bath or a recirculating chiller can also be added later, depending on which solvents are distilled in the laboratory.Maintenance and ambient conditionsThe RV 3 FLEX is protected to IP 20 in accordance with DIN EN 60529 and is designed for use at 5 to 40 degrees Celsius and up to 80 per cent relative humidity, as is usual in an air-conditioned laboratory room. With a weight of 12 kilograms and dimensions of 440 x 530 x 330 millimetres, the drive unit can also be accommodated on smaller work surfaces or moved between two workstations when no permanently installed rotary evaporator is available.Typical applicationsLaboratories that already own glassware or condensers from the RV 10 series and want to keep using themEntry into rotary evaporation without the cost of a complete set of glasswareTraining and teaching, where simple operation without menu levels countsReplacement or second drive for an existing RV 3 systemSelection guide: FLEX or dry ice condenserWithin the RV 3 series, the FLEX version sits alongside two versions with a dry ice condenser and a set solution with pump and recirculating chiller. Herstellernummer: 0003940100

It is not possible to maintain the temperature of samples below room temperature using a heater alone. The IKA KS 3000 ic control therefore has a built-in cooling coil with connections for an external cooling unit; IKA cites the RC 2 basic or RC 2 control as examples. With cooling, the temperature range extends from room temperature minus 10 K to 80 °C, provided the inlet temperature is above 3 °C. The incubation shaker performs circular shaking with a 20 mm stroke at 10 to 500 rpm and can hold up to 7.5 kg.Heating and coolingAn integrated PID control system operates with two PT-1000 sensors; the heating power is 1000 W. The setpoint temperature is adjusted and displayed in increments of 0.1 K. With a sensor in the vessel, the control accuracy is ±0.5 K (1 vessel containing 0.5 l of water, 22 °C room temperature, 37 °C). Temperature stability is ±0.05 K (1 vessel containing 0.5 l, room temperature 25 °C, 37 °C), whilst temperature homogeneity across five vessels, each containing 0.5 l, is ±0.5 K. There is a connection socket for an additional sensor in the working chamber. A stainless-steel PT 1000.80 is included in the Scope of delivery.Interior, hood and safety featuresThe inner chamber measures 330 x 330 x 258 mm and has a volume of 50 l. The lid is made of PMMA, whilst the housing is made of powder-coated sheet steel. The unit stops automatically when the lid is opened and switches itself off in the event of a fault. The control elements have an antimicrobial coating to reduce bacteria. A drip tray with a drain hose at the rear collects any liquid. Speed and time are shown on a large LED display. The timer ranges from 1 second to 999 hours; alternatively, the unit can run continuously.Typical applicationsShaking temperature-controlled samples for hours in unattended operationIncubation at a constant temperature, for example at 37 °CTemperature control below room temperature with a connected cooling unitDocumented runs via RS 232, USB-B and labworldsoftShaking of vessels of various sizes using clamps or a universal adapter, up to 7.5 kgWith or without a cooling coilIf you only need to heat from room temperature plus 5 K, you can opt for the KS 3000 i control. IKA RV 3 Rotationsverdampfer mit Trockeneiskühler, Heizbad HB eco, bis 300 rpm
IKA RV 3 Rotary Evaporator with Dry Ice Condenser, HB eco Heating Bath, up to 300 rpm, 0010006363
Herstellernummer: 0010006363

The RV 3 with dry ice condenser replaces water-flow cooling with a dry ice condenser, so the device needs no cooling water connection. The RV 10.4 condenser with 620 square centimetres of cooling surface sits on the RV 3 FLEX drive unit, and IKA also supplies a 1 litre evaporating flask and a 500 millilitre receiving flask. At 28.3 kilograms, the device is considerably heavier than the FLEX drive unit alone because of the condenser and glassware. As a manual base model of the RV 3 series, it is suitable for chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological laboratories as well as for research, production and quality assurance.Dry ice condenser for low-boiling solventsInstead of a cooling water circuit, the condenser is filled with dry ice or another cooling medium, which makes the device independent of a water connection at the workstation. With 620 square centimetres of cooling surface, the setup is particularly suitable for solvents with a low boiling point, where a pure water condenser is not sufficient to effectively slow evaporation. For laboratories without a fixed cooling water connection or with fluctuating water pressure, this is often the more practical solution than retrofitting recirculating cooling.Accessories and expansionAs part of the RV 10-compatible accessory platform, the RV 3 with dry ice condenser can, if required, be expanded with a second set of glassware, recirculating cooling or a vacuum pump such as the VACSTAR lite, should automated vacuum control nevertheless be needed in operation. For dry ice operation itself, a standard cooling medium in the condenser jacket is sufficient, and no additional power connection for cooling is needed.Choice of coolant and everyday operationIn practice, the dry ice condenser is filled with crushed dry ice, which is mixed with a solvent such as isopropanol or acetone in the condenser jacket so that the cold is distributed evenly around the cooling coils instead of settling in lumps. Anyone distilling over several hours plans the refilling as a fixed step in the procedure, since dry ice sublimates continuously and the cooling capacity otherwise declines. Cold-protection gloves are sensible when filling and refilling, as pure dry ice can cause frostbite on direct skin contact. For the distillation of diethyl ether or dichloromethane after an extraction, the cooling surface of 620 square centimetres is generally sufficient without solvent escaping uncontrolled through the condenser.Manual operation and safety featuresAs with the FLEX drive unit, the speed can be set between 20 and 300 revolutions per minute with a rotary knob, and the manual lift has a stroke of 150 millimetres. A locking mechanism with a red indicator marks the unlocked position of the vapour duct tube, and the flask clamp with push-off device allows the evaporating flask to be changed with one hand, for right-handed and left-handed users alike. Internally, the device works with 24-volt extra-low voltage, which reduces the risk at the flask compared with components carrying mains voltage.Connected load and dimensionsOn the mains, the device runs at 100 to 240 volts and 1400 watts device power consumption, and a separate voltage converter is not necessary on most European and international mains supplies. The protection class IP 20 according to DIN EN 60529 and the permissible ambient range of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius at up to 80 per cent humidity correspond to the usual conditions in a laboratory room. With a footprint of 440 x 530 x 330 millimetres and a weight of 28.3 kilograms, a fixed position in the fume cupboard or on a stable laboratory bench makes sense.Typical applicationsDistillation of low-boiling solvents such as diethyl ether or dichloromethaneWorkstations without a cooling water connection or with limited water flowMobile or temporary laboratory setups outside a permanent installationTraining and routine operation with a fixed condenser and flask combination, without changeover time between experimentsSelection guide: dry ice condenser, FLEX or setThis version is the uncoated dry ice condenser variant of the RV 3 series. IKA RV 8 V-C Rotationsverdampfer, Vertikalkühler beschichtet, Heizbad HB 10, bis 300 rpm
IKA RV 8 V-C Rotary Evaporator, Coated Vertical Condenser, HB 10 Heating Bath, up to 300 rpm, 0010003485
Herstellernummer: 0010003485

The RV 8 V-C is the manually operated base unit of the IKA RV 8 series and comes with an already assembled, coated vertical glassware set RV 10.10. The coating acts as splinter protection: if the glass breaks, the film holds the fragments together instead of scattering them around the laboratory. Anyone who distils aggressive solvents or frequently reconfigures the glassware has a noticeable advantage with this additional safety layer compared with uncoated glass. Unlike the auto pro devices of the RV 10 series, the RV 8 V-C deliberately dispenses with a motorised lift and vacuum controller. For a laboratory with established distillation routines, this is often the more practical choice, because operation manages without menu levels and the device is ready for use straight out of the box.Hand lift with two safety levelsThe manual lift raises and lowers the evaporating flask over a stroke of 120 millimetres, and the immersion angle can be set continuously. One-handed operation works equally well for right-handed and left-handed users. In the event of a power failure, an integrated safety lift automatically raises the flask out of the hot heating bath so that the sample does not overheat or burn. A clamping mechanism with push-off device makes it easier to change the flask between two distillation runs, and a locking mechanism with a red indicator shows when the vapour duct tube is not correctly secured.Coated condenser and digital displayThe specially developed glass routing makes efficient use of the 1500 square centimetre cooling surface of the vertical condenser, so that little solvent remains unused even with rapid evaporation. Digital displays for rotation speed and heating bath temperature show both values at a glance. The speed ranges from 5 to 300 revolutions per minute, and the tolerance is ±1 revolution below and ±1 per cent above 100 rpm.Heating bath and connected loadThe water/oil heating bath heats up to 180 degrees Celsius with a setting accuracy of 1 kelvin and holds a maximum of 4 litres. Ergonomic carrying handles make transport easier, and a key button locks the set heating bath temperature against accidental adjustment. In addition, a 24-volt DC circuit runs inside the device, which reduces the risk for the user compared with components carrying mains voltage. On the mains, the RV 8 V-C runs at 100 to 240 volts and 1500 watts device power consumption, and the heating bath itself draws up to 1400 watts.Typical applicationsSolvent recovery in organic synthesis, where a fixed glassware configuration saves changeover timeDistillation of abrasive or crystallising media, where the coated glass reduces the risk of breakageTraining and teaching with recurring, clearly defined distillation stepsSecond device alongside an existing RV 10 system, compatible with the entire IKA RV 10 glassware rangeSelection guide: the RV 8 family at a glanceFive RV 8 versions are available at LT Laborhandel, all with a manual hand lift instead of a motorised lift. Not every distillation in the laboratory needs a heating bath temperature of 180 degrees Celsius or motorised control. For routine evaporation of aqueous and low-boiling solvents, a compact, robust device that can be operated without lengthy training is often enough. That is exactly what the IKA RV 3 V rotary evaporator is designed for: the RV 3 eco drive unit with manual lift comes together with the HB eco S099 water heating bath up to 99 degrees Celsius and uncoated vertical glassware in one package that can be connected directly to a vacuum pump and cooling water supply. For laboratories that already have a central vacuum and cooling water supply, or that need a second, easy-to-operate workstation alongside a more elaborate RV 10 station, the package is therefore an obvious, budget-conscious addition. Selection guide: RV 3, RV 8 or RV 10, and which specification level?Within the IKA rotary evaporator series, the RV 3 V marks the entry level: manual lift, heating bath with eco control up to 99 degrees Celsius and uncoated glass. Anyone who needs higher heating bath temperatures up to 180 degrees Celsius, for example for higher-boiling solvents or oil bath operation, will only find this specification from the RV 8 series onwards. The following overview classifies the five common complete packages of the RV series. Model designationIKA RV 3 V  |  RV 3 V-C  |  RV 8 V  |  RV 10 digital V Starter Solution  |  RV 10 auto pro V-C Liftmanual | manual | manual (hand lift) | motor with safety stop | motor with safety stop Control leveleco | eco | heating bath with digital display | digital | auto, with integrated vacuum controller Condenser coatinguncoated | coated | uncoated | uncoated | coated Cooling surface1500 cm² for all five versions Speed range20 to 300 rpm | 20 to 300 rpm | 5 to 300 rpm | 5 to 280 rpm | 5 to 300 rpm Stroke150 mm  |  150 mm  |  120 mm  |  140 mm  |  140 mm Heating temperature rangeRoom temp. to 99 °C | Room temp. to 99 °C | Room temp. to 180 °C | Room temp. to 180 °C | Room temp. to 180 °C Vacuum pump in setno | no | no | yes, VACSTAR lite with VC 10 lite controller | yes, VACSTAR digital Recirculating chiller in setno | no | no | yes, RC 2 lite | no Differentiation within the RV familyAnyone who prefers coated glass for additional splinter protection but otherwise wants the same specification will find, in the IKA RV 3 V-C rotary evaporator , the technically identical drive and heating bath combination, only with coated instead of uncoated vertical glassware. Anyone who needs higher heating bath temperatures up to 180 degrees Celsius and a wider speed range from 5 rpm is better served by the IKA RV 8 V . For laboratories that also want an integrated vacuum pump in the set, the Pro version IKA RV 3 pro V-C Complete rotary evaporator is the next step up. Since the RV 3 V includes neither a vacuum pump nor a recirculating chiller, we recommend the IKA RC 2 lite recirculating chillerfor the cooling circuit, which according to the manufacturer is expressly intended for cooling rotary evaporators. This allows you to expand from the entry-level package in exactly the direction your laboratory needs, without replacing the entire device. Typical applicationsThe RV 3 V rotary evaporator is suitable for routine evaporation and concentration in the temperature range up to 99 degrees Celsius: Routine solvent evaporation and recovery in chemistry and QA laboratories Concentrating aqueous samples and extracts as part of sample preparation Teaching and training laboratories that need a robust, easy-to-operate entry-level device Budget-oriented equipping of second or replacement workstations alongside an existing RV 10 station Chemistry, pharmaceuticals, bioindustry, research and development, production and quality assurance, and plant engineering as the fields of application named by the manufacturer Manual vacuum control: what matters with the entry-level modelWithout an integrated vacuum controller, pressure control in the RV 3 series is handled by the separately procured vacuum pump or an upstream vacuum controller. For a clean distillation process, it is advisable to apply the vacuum slowly at the start and to set the target pressure finally only once stable boiling has been reached, instead of immediately regulating to the lowest achievable pressure. This helps avoid bumping, which is more likely to occur with manual control than with automatic vacuum control such as in the auto level of the RV 10 series. The manual hand lift with a stroke of 150 millimetres also allows the flask to be lifted quickly out of the heating bath if necessary, for example when foam forms and the process has to be interrupted briefly. Use, installation and maintenanceThe drive unit is designed for ambient temperatures of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of up to 80 per cent, protection class IP 20 according to DIN EN 60529. The manual hand lift requires somewhat more attention than a motorised lift when raising and lowering the glassware, but it can be operated without software or programming. The HB eco water heating bath should be checked regularly for sufficient water level and limescale deposits, especially with frequent operation near the upper temperature limit of 99 degrees Celsius. For the cooling water circuit of the vertical condenser, a connection with adjustable flow is recommended, so that the cooling capacity can be adapted to different solvents and ambient temperatures without keeping water consumption unnecessarily high. The IKA WEEE registration number is DE 66784213. Take-back at the end of its service life takes place within the framework of the statutory take-back obligations, and disposal with household waste is not permitted. Investment logic: what is in the set, what is still missing?Drive, heating bath and glassware are already covered by the RV 3 V, but for operation under vacuum a vacuum pump of its own is missing, and for a closed, water-saving cooling circuit a recirculating chiller such as the IKA RC 2 lite, which the manufacturer expressly intends for cooling rotary evaporators. Anyone who can foresee needing higher heating bath temperatures or a wider speed range should rather go straight to the RV 8 V or to the Pro version RV 3 pro V-C Complete with integrated pump than retrofit, since the heating bath type cannot be replaced afterwards. For an existing laboratory with vacuum and cooling water infrastructure already in place, the RV 3 V on the other hand is ready for use without further investment. Anyone who is unsure whether to purchase a vacuum pump of their own or to use an existing house vacuum line should first clarify the final pressure actually required for the planned applications, because this determines whether a simple diaphragm pump is sufficient or a more powerful model makes more sense. This clarification is particularly worthwhile if the RV 3 V is to be set up as a second device alongside an existing RV 10 station with its own vacuum supply, because the purchase cost of the vacuum pump may be saved entirely. Frequently asked questions Is a vacuum pump included in the scope of delivery? No, the package contains the drive, heating bath and glassware. A vacuum pump has to be procured separately for operation under vacuum. How hot does the heating bath get? The HB eco water heating bath heats from room temperature up to 99 degrees Celsius. For higher temperatures, the RV 8 V with oil heating bath is more suitable. Is the glassware coated? No, the RV 3 V includes the uncoated glassware RV 10.1. The coated version is available as the RV 3 V-C. Which recirculating chiller suits this device? The manufacturer expressly names the cooling of rotary evaporators as a field of application for the IKA RC 2 lite. How is the lift operated? The lift is manual, with a stroke of 150 mm, without a motor or programming. Can I upgrade to a larger device later? A direct conversion is not intended. For higher throughput or higher temperatures, we recommend switching to the RV 8 V or the Pro version. What mains voltage is required? The drive unit works in the range of 100 to 240 volts at 50 or 60 hertz and draws up to 1400 watts. Can a vacuum pump be added to the device later? Yes, a suitable pump can be retrofitted at any time. The package itself is unaffected, since drive, heating bath and glassware work independently of vacuum generation. Individual requirements & procurement serviceWe will gladly support you with suitable vacuum pumps, recirculating chillers, spare glassware or wearing parts such as the vapour duct seal through our procurement service.

Efficiency and safety in everyday laboratory work: the IKA RV 10 digital V The IKA RV 10 digital V (MPN 0010004799) is the logical evolution of the tried-and-tested RV 10 series. As a digital upgrade to the basic model, this complete rotary evaporator package offers not only the highest precision but also cutting-edge interfaces for the modern Laboratory 4.0. Equipped with the vertical glass set (V), this system is the ideal all-rounder for standard distillations, reflux applications and drying processes in the chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Intelligent technology for reproducible results Unlike analogue devices, the RV 10 digital features an easy-to-read display that provides information on the heating bath temperature, rotational speed and timer function at all times. This enables precise reproducibility of your experiments. A particular highlight is the RS 232 interface: it allows remote control of the unit as well as comprehensive documentation of all process parameters via the labworldsoft laboratory software ®. In addition, the drive unit communicates directly with the heating bath via an infrared interface, enabling intelligent power control. Safety without compromise When working with solvents and heat, safety is paramount. The RV 10 digital sets new standards in this regard. The motorised lift features an integrated ‘Safety-Stop’ function: in the event of a power cut, the evaporator piston automatically retracts from the hot bath. This reliably prevents the medium from overheating or the sample from ‘boiling dry’. The universal heating bath (water/oil) heats up to 180 °C and is equipped with dry-run protection and an adjustable safety temperature circuit. Ergonomic carrying handles on the bath also ensure safe handling when filling or emptying, and the lockable bath base prevents accidental slipping. User-friendliness and durability During development, IKA placed particular emphasis on usability. The timer function enables time-controlled processes, ideal for routine tasks. The patented release mechanism significantly simplifies the replacement of the evaporating flask: even flasks that are firmly stuck can be released safely and with minimal effort, minimising the risk of glass breakage. The RV 10.1 vertical condenser included in the set is extremely space-saving and efficient. With a cooling surface area of 1,500 cm², it ensures high condensation rates. The coated versions (available as an option) offer additional protection against splintering. Soft start and intermittent operation The motor’s soft start prevents the medium from spilling over at start-up, even at high fill levels. For difficult-to-handle media, the RV 10 digital offers intermittent operation (right-left cycle), which improves mixing and can speed up the drying process. The unit also automatically detects the lift’s end stop and can be individually adjusted to suit your glassware. IKA RV 10 digital Rotationsverdampfer mit Trockeneiskühler, Motor-Lift, bis 280 rpm
IKA RV 10 digital Rotary Evaporator with Dry Ice Condenser, Motorised Lift, up to 280 rpm, 0010006365
Herstellernummer: 0010006365

The RV 10 digital with dry ice condenser belongs to the digital line of the RV 10 series and replaces the otherwise usual vertical or diagonal glassware with a dry ice condenser with 620 square centimetres of cooling surface. The device therefore runs without a cooling water connection, which is particularly important for low-boiling solvents where pure water cooling is not sufficient. Like the other digital models, the device controls speed and heating bath via a classic 7-segment display, without a colour display and without an integrated vacuum controller, but with a motorised rather than manual lift. For a laboratory with recurring distillation methods, this is often the more practical choice: fewer operating levels, ready for immediate use, and the condenser is already in the box.Motorised lift and digital displayThe speed can be set continuously between 5 and 280 revolutions per minute, and the direction of rotation can be reversed for interval operation. The motorised lift has a stroke of 140 millimetres and moves the flask out of the heating bath at the push of a button, and a built-in timer takes over recurring process steps. The heating bath heats up to 180 degrees Celsius with a setting accuracy of 1 kelvin, and the filling volume is 3 litres.Dry ice condenser and interfaceThe dry ice condenser with 620 square centimetres of cooling surface is filled with dry ice or another cooling medium instead of being connected to a water line. An RS-232 interface connects the device to the IKA software labworldsoft, and for the mains connection IKA offers the model in several voltage variants. The device power consumption is 1400 watts, and the heating power of the bath is 1300 watts.Choice of coolant and everyday operationIn practice, the dry ice condenser is filled with crushed dry ice, usually mixed with a solvent such as isopropanol or acetone so that the cold is distributed evenly around the cooling coils instead of settling in lumps. With longer distillation series, refilling is a fixed routine, since dry ice sublimates continuously. The built-in timer eases everyday work here, because a distillation step can be started and left to run while other samples are prepared in parallel, and the motorised lift automatically raises the flask out of the heating bath at the end. For a diethyl ether or dichloromethane mixture, the filling volume of 3 litres in the heating bath is usually sufficient for a complete distillation run.Ambient conditions and dimensionsThe protection class IP 20 according to DIN EN 60529 and the permissible ambient range of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius at up to 80 per cent humidity correspond to the usual conditions in a laboratory room. With a footprint of 500 x 430 x 440 millimetres and a weight of 20 kilograms, the device is heavier than a pure RV 3 drive unit because of the condenser and motorised lift, but can still be accommodated on a standard fume cupboard surface.Typical applicationsDistillation of low-boiling solvents without a cooling water connection at the workstationRecurring distillation routines with a motorised lift for less manual effortConnection to labworldsoft via RS-232 for logging and remote monitoringTraining and teaching with clearly structured operation without menu levelsReplacement or second device for an existing RV 10 digital systemSelection guide: the RV 10 digital familyWithin the digital line, three versions with glassware and two with a dry ice condenser are available, each with the same drive technology and the same speed range.ModelEquipmentSpeed rangeOperationRV 10 digital VVertical glassware, uncoated5 to 280 rpm7-segment display, manualRV 10 digital V-CVertical glassware, coated5 to 280 rpm7-segment display, manualRV 10 digital FLEXwithout glassware5 to 280 rpm7-segment display, manualRV 10 digital with dry ice condenser (this product)Dry ice condenser, 620 cm²5 to 280 rpm7-segment display, manualRV 10 auto V Starter SolutionVertical glassware, pump and cooler in the set5 to 300 rpmTFT colour display, vacuum controller integratedThe coated dry ice condenser version is available as the RV 10 digital with dry ice condenser, coated, and for smaller sample quantities there is the RV 3 from the same series family.Accessories from the RV 10 platformLike the other digital models, this version is also compatible with the entire accessory platform of the RV 10 series. IKA RV 10 digital Rotary Evaporator with Dry Ice Condenser, Coated, Motorised Lift, up to 280 rpm, 0010006364
Herstellernummer: 0010006364

In this version of the RV 10 digital with dry ice condenser, the evaporating flask, receiving flask and RV 10.40 dry ice condenser are coated, which holds splinters together in the event of glass breakage instead of scattering them in the fume cupboard. The drive, operation and condenser design correspond to the uncoated dry ice condenser version: 7-segment display instead of colour display, motorised lift instead of manual operation, no integrated vacuum controller. For laboratories working with aggressive or toxic solvents, the coating is an obvious additional protection without anything changing in the drive technology. As with the uncoated model, the device comes with an evaporating flask of 1,000 millilitres volume and a receiving flask of 1,000 millilitres volume, both in coated design. What the coating changes in operationTechnically, the distillation remains identical to the uncoated version, and only the glassware differs. If a crack or breakage occurs, the coating holds splinters together at the flask or condenser instead of letting them escape uncontrolled. The dry ice condenser with 620 square centimetres of cooling surface is filled with dry ice or another cooling medium as with the uncoated model and thus makes a cooling water connection unnecessary. The protection class IP 20 according to DIN EN 60529 and the permissible ambient range of 5 to 40 degrees Celsius at up to 80 per cent humidity apply unchanged from the uncoated model.Accessories and expansionLike the uncoated sibling model, this version is also compatible with the entire accessory platform of the RV 10 series. A second coated set of glassware, recirculating cooling as an alternative to dry ice operation or a vacuum pump with controller can be retrofitted should the requirements in the laboratory grow later. For ongoing operation, a standard cooling medium in the condenser jacket is sufficient, and no additional power connection is needed for cooling.Drive, lift and heating bathThe speed can be set between 5 and 280 revolutions per minute, and the direction of rotation can be reversed for interval operation. The motorised lift has a stroke of 140 millimetres and moves the flask out of the heating bath at the push of a button, and a timer automatically takes over recurring process steps. The heating bath heats up to 180 degrees Celsius with a setting accuracy of 1 kelvin, the filling volume is 3 litres, and the heating power is 1300 watts.Choice of coolant and handling in everyday useAs with the uncoated model, the dry ice condenser is filled with crushed dry ice, usually mixed with a solvent such as isopropanol or acetone so that the cold is distributed evenly around the cooling coils. With longer distillation series, refilling is routine, and the built-in timer and the motorised lift ease operation here, because the flask is raised automatically out of the heating bath at the end. The coating of the condenser and flask changes nothing in this sequence, and it only takes effect in the event of breakage. Cold-protection gloves are sensible when handling dry ice, as pure dry ice can cause frostbite on direct skin contact.Typical applicationsDistillation of solvents where glass breakage would be particularly criticalLow-boiling solvents without a cooling water connection, as with the uncoated versionLaboratories with increased safety requirements for glasswareRecurring distillation routines with a motorised lift and timerTraining laboratories in which splinter protection is part of the safety conceptSelection guide: coated or uncoatedAnyone who does not need additional splinter protection saves money with the uncoated dry ice condenser version. Both versions share the drive, speed range and heating bath, and the difference lies solely in the glassware.ModelEquipmentSpeed rangeOperationRV 10 digital VVertical glassware, uncoated5 to 280 rpm7-segment display, manualRV 10 digital V-CVertical glassware, coated5 to 280 rpm7-segment display, manualRV 10 digital FLEXwithout glassware5 to 280 rpm7-segment display, manualRV 10 digital with dry ice condenserDry ice condenser, 620 cm²5 to 280 rpm7-segment display, manualRV 10 digital with dry ice condenser, coated (this product)Dry ice condenser, coated, 620 cm²5 to 280 rpm7-segment display, manualFor automated vacuum control with a colour display, the RV 10 auto V Starter Solution is available, and for smaller sample quantities the RV 3 from the same series family.Technical detailsCondenser typeDry ice condenser, coatedCooling surface620 cm²Motor principleDCSpeed range5 to 280 rpmDirection of rotation reversibleyesLiftmotorised, stroke 140 mmHeating temperature rangeRoom temperature to 180 °CHeating power1300 WSetting accuracy of set temperature1 KMax. filling volume of heating bath3 lTimerpresentPermissible ambient temperature / humidity5 to 40 °C / 80 %Protection classIP 20 according to DIN EN 60529RS-232 interfacepresentDimensions (W x H x D)500 x 430 x 440 mmWeight20 kgDevice power consumption1400 W, 50/60 HzMains voltage variants220 to 240 V / 115 V / 100 to 240 V / 100 to 120 V / 100 to 115 VScope of deliveryRV 10 digital FLEX drive unit (basic unit with heating bath), ident no. 0010006364RV 10.84 evaporating flask (NS 29/32, 1,000 ml), ident no. 0003740500RV 10.203 receiving flask, coated (KS 35/20, 1,000 ml), ident no. 0003743500RV 10.40 dry ice condenser, coated, ident no. 0003742100Warranty and procurement serviceThe IKA manufacturer's warranty applies to rotary evaporators: 2 years, extended to 5 years if registered at ika.com/register within 90 days of purchase. IKA RV 8 FLEX Rotationsverdampfer, ohne Glassatz, Heizbad HB 10, bis 300 rpm
IKA RV 8 FLEX Rotary Evaporator, without Glassware, HB 10 Heating Bath, up to 300 rpm, 0010003488
Herstellernummer: 0010003488

The RV 8 FLEX is the pure drive unit of the IKA RV 8 series, without glassware and without a condenser. Anyone who already has their own glassware in house or wants to select it specifically by process does not have to buy a preconfigured set with the FLEX. The hand lift works manually, and the device manages without a motorised lift and without a vacuum controller, but is ready for immediate use for laboratories that know their distillation routines and value a free choice of glassware combination. An HB digital heating bath with 4 litre filling volume is included in the scope of delivery despite the reduced equipment. This division is particularly worthwhile with several RV 8 devices operated in parallel: a replacement drive can be mounted quickly on the FLEX without having to order another set of glassware that ends up unused in the cupboard.Free choice of glassware and condenserWithout a fixed set of glassware, the RV 8 FLEX can be fitted with any combination from the IKA RV 10 glassware range, from uncoated vertical glassware through the coated version to the dry ice condenser. This is worthwhile above all for laboratories that run different processes with changing requirements for breakage protection or cooling capacity and do not want to keep several complete devices on hand. The RV 05.10 ball joint clamp and NS 29 clamp are already included, so that separately procured glassware can be mounted directly.Hand lift and safety functionsThe manual lift raises and lowers over a stroke of 120 millimetres, the immersion angle is continuously adjustable, and one-handed operation works for right-handed and left-handed users. If the power fails, an integrated safety lift automatically raises the flask out of the heating bath. Digital displays for rotation speed and heating bath temperature run independently of the chosen glassware configuration, and the speed ranges from 5 to 300 rpm.Heating bath and connected loadThe supplied heating bath heats up to 180 degrees Celsius with a setting accuracy of 1 kelvin, carrying handles make transport easier, and a key button locks the set temperature against accidental adjustment. A 24-volt DC circuit in the device reduces the risk compared with components carrying mains voltage. On the mains, the RV 8 FLEX runs at 100 to 240 volts and 1500 watts device power consumption, and the heating bath draws up to 1400 watts.Typical applicationsLaboratories with existing glassware that are looking for a new drive unit without duplicate accessoriesChanging distillation processes with different needs for breakage protection or cooling capacityReplacement procurement when only the drive has to be replaced but the glassware is retainedTraining laboratories that demonstrate different sets of glassware on the same driveSelection guide: the RV 8 family at a glanceFive RV 8 versions are available at LT Laborhandel, all with a manual hand lift. IKA RV 10 Digital V-C Rotary Evaporator, 0010004802
Herstellernummer: 0010004802

RV 10 digital V-C The RV 10 digital is the logical evolution of the RV 10 rotary evaporator product range. It features a new universal heating bath, a vertical glass assembly, modern safety features and digital interfaces. The RV 10 digital is a robust and reliable companion for all distillation tasks. Its optimised bath volume enables rapid heating times. Thanks to specially developed glass guides, the condenser utilises its 1,600 cm² cooling surface extremely efficiently. The IKA RV thus delivers Further innovative features such as soft start, alternating clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation in interval mode, and a timer function for controlling time sequences support the user in their day-to-day laboratory work. Safety is ensured by the motorised lift with a ‘safety-stop’ function. In the event of a power cut, it automatically lifts the evaporating flask out of the heating bath. In addition, individually adjustable safety temperature circuits, dry-run protection, adjustable limit position detection to protect against glass breakage, and a lockout function ensure user safety. Furthermore, the receiving flasks and the condenser are also available in a coated version. The RS-232 interface allows remote control via IKA’® software ‘labworldsoft’. The heating bath is controlled by the control unit via an infrared interface. 4-litre heating bath Universal (water/oil) safety heating bath Vertical glass set as standard Motorised lift with ‘safety-stop’ function RS-232 interface Optimised heating bath volume for rapid heating Highly efficient cooler with 1600 cm² Robust design Ergonomic carrying handles on the heating bath Soft start Forward and reverse operation Timer function Dry-run protection Safety temperature circuit Limit position detection Coated glass available Piston extraction device for stuck pistons Simple and safe operation thanks to an ergonomically designed control unit Digital interfaces for remote control Scope of delivery RV 10 digital drive HB digital S099 RV 10.10 glass set, vertically coated RV 10.88 Clamp NS 29 RV 10.70 Steam feed-through pipe (NS 29/32) RV 10.8001 Seal RV 3.4 Woulff flask RV 3.1 Support rod Technical data Cooler design: vertical Cooling surface area 1,600 cm² Motor type: DC Speed range 5–280 rpm Reversible rotation: yes Lift motor Stroke: 140 mm Heating temperature range: room temperature – 180 °C Heating power 1350 W Setpoint accuracy ±1 K Maximum capacity 4 l Timer: yes Dimensions (W x H x D): 500 x 430 x 440 mm Weight 32.67 kg Permissible ambient temperature range 5–40 °C Permissible relative humidity: 80 % Protection class according to DIN EN 60529: IP 20 RS-232 interface: yes Voltage 220–240 V Frequency: 50/60 Hz Power consumption 1400 W Other voltage variants available (220–240 V / 115 V / 100–240 V / 100–120 V / 100–115 V) Accessories and spare parts available on request
