The RV 10 auto pro V is the flagship model of the IKA RV 10 series: a colour TFT graphic display replaces the 7-segment display of the digital range, an integrated vacuum controller automatically manages vacuum and cooling water, and the VACSTAR digital vacuum pump is included as standard. Whereas the ‘digital’ range requires manual routine operation, the auto pro V automatically controls the boiling point, vacuum and heating bath, making it suitable for series or runs that cannot be continuously monitored. The uncoated RV 10.1 vertical glass set is included in the Scope of delivery; the vertical condenser utilises the same cooling surface area of 1,500 cm² as in the digital line.

Automated distillation via the vacuum controller

The integrated vacuum controller measures with an accuracy of ±1 mbar and automatically regulates the vacuum and cooling water flow, including automatic venting at the end of the process. A solvent library with 40 pre-stored, expandable entries supports automatic boiling point detection; up to ten individual procedures can be stored via advanced ramp programming and retrieved for recurring runs. The speed ranges from 5 to 300 revolutions per minute; for set speeds below 100 rpm, the unit maintains a tolerance of ±1 rpm, and above that, ±1 %. An individually adjustable cleaning cycle for the vacuum controller extends the maintenance interval and the service life of the system.

Interfaces, connections and supplied pump

USB (Micro-USB), RS-232 and an analogue output are available for remote control via labworldsoft and for firmware updates. The supplied VACSTAR digital vacuum pump generates the vacuum; two vacuum hoses (0.55 metres each) and two cooling water hoses (1 metre each) are included in the Scope of delivery. The drive unit itself draws just 100 watts from the mains at 100 to 240 volts; in standby mode, power consumption drops to 3.3 watts, whilst the separate heating power of the heating bath is 1,350 watts. Including the heating bath, condenser and pump, the entire unit weighs around 52 kilograms, significantly more than the ‘digital’ range, as it includes additional electronics and the pump.

Warranty and procurement service

Rotary evaporators and heating baths are covered by the IKA manufacturer’s warranty: 2 years, extended to 5 years upon registration at ika.com/register within 90 days of purchase. For peripheral devices included in the package, such as the VACSTAR digital vacuum pump, the IKA warranty applies at the 2+1 level; upon registration, this means 3 years instead of 5.
