The Memmert IF55 incubator has a capacity of 53 litres and, with up to four shelves and a maximum total load of 80 kg, is designed to accommodate several samples running simultaneously. The temperature range, with forced air circulation, is from +20 to +80 °C; an electropolished stainless steel wire rack is included as part of the scope of delivery.
Interior and air circulation
Inside, the IF55 features deep-drawn ribbing and is heated all round; the housing has a fully galvanised sheet steel rear panel. Air circulation is provided by a low-noise turbine, the speed of which can be adjusted in 10 per cent increments.
Operation and Measurement Technology
The SingleDISPLAY-ControlCOCKPIT, featuring a TFT colour graphics display, allows the temperature to be set in either Celsius or Fahrenheit, as well as the speed of the recirculation fan, the position of the exhaust air damper, and the programme duration, time zones and summer/winter time. The temperature is measured by a DIN Class A Pt100 sensor using a 4-wire measurement method; the setting accuracy is 0.1 °C. A self-diagnostic system reports faults, whilst the data logger can be read out and managed via the Ethernet interface.
Safety and locking
A mechanical temperature limiter, protection class 1 in accordance with DIN 12880, switches off the heating when the temperature rises to around 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. The fully insulated stainless steel door with an internal glass door is secured by a 2-point locking mechanism acting as a compression door seal.
Which size is right for me?
Memmert supplies the IF55 with one shelf as standard; up to four are possible, with a maximum load of 80 kg for the unit and 20 kg per shelf. Whilst this is more than sufficient for smaller sample quantities, the IF30, with a capacity of 32 litres, offers a more compact alternative. Those who regularly incubate larger batches will find the IF75, with a 74-litre capacity and up to six shelves, offers greater capacity.
