The IKA RV 8 pro V-C Complete rotary evaporator is a highly advanced, mechatronic system solution for efficient, gentle distillation, concentration and solvent recovery in chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology laboratories. As an entry-level model in professional distillation technology, this complete system combines tried-and-tested functionality with the highest levels of operator ergonomics and process reliability. When thermally separating complex mixtures of substances in research and routine operations, the precise interplay between rotational speed, thermodynamic energy input and vacuum stability is the primary criterion for reliably guaranteeing reproducible evaporation rates without causing thermal damage to the analytes.
Ergonomic design and precise mechanical stroke guidance
The mechanical system architecture of the RV 8 pro is characterised by a precisely balanced, manual lift mechanism that enables effortless and precise positioning of the evaporator flask in the heating bath. An integrated, mechanically adjustable end stop (Safety Stop) protects the glass apparatus from accidental collision with the bottom of the bath or surrounding laboratory equipment. The ergonomic one-handed operation is optimally accessible for both right- and left-handed users. Additional ease of use is provided by the digital LED display, which continuously shows the rotation speed; this can be adjusted with high precision from 5 to 300 revolutions per minute via a stepless rotary control to ensure uniform film formation on the inner wall of the flask.
Universal heating bath and material-friendly thermodynamics
The HB digital universal water-oil heating bath, included as standard, forms the process engineering foundation for thermal energy transfer. With a heating capacity of 1,300 watts, the bath achieves extremely short heat-up times and allows for a flexible operating temperature range from room temperature up to 180 degrees Celsius. This makes the system suitable for both low-boiling-point solvents and high-boiling-point phases. A clear digital display clearly shows the setpoint and actual temperatures. The ergonomically designed heating bath features integrated safety handles for safe handling and is structurally designed so that it can be moved flexibly within its footprint to optimally adjust the immersion depth of the flask.
Maximum occupational safety thanks to safety-coated vertical glass
The material design of this model variant is uncompromisingly geared towards providing maximum protection for laboratory staff. The vertical glass assembly set (V-C) included in the ‘Complete’ package is encased in a transparent, highly resistant plastic safety coating (Coated). This protective coating minimises the risk of glass breakage due to mechanical impact and, in the critical event of an implosion under vacuum, prevents dangerous glass shards and toxic substances from flying around uncontrollably. The vertical intensive condenser, with a generous cooling surface area of 1500 cm², ensures excellent condensation rates even at high flow rates and, thanks to its vertical orientation, takes up minimal floor space in the fume cupboard.

To utilise the full potential of the IKA RV 8 pro V-C Complete, we recommend integrating suitable vacuum and cooling peripherals. Our laboratory range includes chemical-resistant diaphragm vacuum pumps (e.g. IKA MVP 10 digital) as well as precise vacuum controllers for accurate boiling point control. To reduce cooling water consumption and ensure constant condensation temperatures, we also recommend connecting a compact recirculating chiller (such as the IKA RC 2 lite).
