Memmert Incubator IN160mplus, 161 l, +20 to +80 °C, TwinDISPLAY

With 161 litres of interior space and a housing height of 1,104 mm, the Memmert Incubator IN160mplus is the fifth of eight sizes in the IN-mplus series. As a class I medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745, it is used for warming irrigation and infusion solutions and contrast media, and up to eight shelves and 210 kg total load are possible.

Technology: display, sensors and functions

The IN160mplus is controlled via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY, an adaptive digital PID microprocessor controller with two TFT colour graphic displays. Temperature measurement is handled by two redundant Pt100 sensors of DIN class A in 4-wire measurement. The setpoint temperature can be set between +20 and +80 °C, and the setting accuracy is 0.1 °C. With HeatBALANCE, the heating power can be shifted between the upper and lower heating group by -50 to +50 per cent, SetpointWAIT only starts the process time once the setpoint temperature has been reached, and three temperature values can be freely calibrated.

Safety and sterilisation

A mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 (DIN 12880) disconnects the heating from the mains at about 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. In addition, an adjustable temperature monitor of protection class 3.1 or an adjustable temperature limiter of protection class 2 can be selected on the display. AutoSAFETY automatically follows the setpoint at a freely selectable distance, raises a visual and audible alarm in the event of deviations, and switches the heating off in the event of an overshoot. A self-diagnosis system helps with fault finding, and a permanently installed program (4 hours, 160 °C) sterilises the interior, not the load.

Connectivity

Programs are created, managed and transferred via an Ethernet interface or a USB port with the AtmoCONTROL software. The program sequence also remains stored in the event of a power failure.

Construction, loading and connection

The interior is made of easy-care, deep-drawn ribbed stainless steel with integrated 4-sided all-round heating, and the housing is made of textured stainless steel with a fully galvanised rear panel. Natural ventilation admixes preheated fresh air via an electronically adjustable exhaust air flap, controlled via an electronically adjustable throttle valve at the exhaust air port. Internal dimensions 560 x 720 x 400 mm, external dimensions 745 x 1,104 x 584 mm (plus 56 mm door handle), net weight around 96 kg. Two grid shelves as standard, up to eight shelves at a maximum of 20 kg per shelf and 210 kg total load. Mains connection: 230 V with approx. 1,600 W or 115 V with approx. 900 W, each 50/60 Hz.

The IN160m compared

The equally sized IN160m is also a class I medical device, but is used for the warming and keeping warm of fango, silicate and APS packs in physiotherapy and thus has a different intended purpose. It has a SingleDISPLAY with one Pt100 sensor instead of the two displays and redundant sensors of the IN160mplus.

Selection guide

The smaller Memmert Incubator IN110mplus holds 108 litres at 175 kg total load and up to five shelves. For larger quantities, the IN260mplus with 256 litres, up to nine shelves and 300 kg total load, the highest value in the series, follows.
