Memmert Incubator IN450mplus, 449 l, +20 to +80 °C, TwinDISPLAY

With 449 litres, the Memmert Incubator IN450mplus is the second-largest version of the IN-mplus series, is 1,247 mm high and weighs approx. 161 kg net. As a Class I medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745, it tempers irrigation and infusion solutions and contrast media, and up to 30 kg per shelf is permitted.

Sensors and control loop

Two Pt100 sensors of DIN class A monitor each other using 4-wire measurement, and if one sensor fails, the second automatically takes over its function. Control is provided by the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY, an adaptive PID microprocessor controller with two TFT colour graphic displays. The set temperature can be set between +20 and +80 °C, and the setting accuracy is 0.1 °C.

Safety

A mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 to DIN 12880 disconnects the heating from the mains at about 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. In addition, an adjustable temperature monitor of protection class 3.1 or an adjustable temperature limiter of protection class 2 can be activated on the display. The AutoSAFETY function automatically follows the set value within a freely selectable range, warns visually and audibly of deviations and switches the heating off if the value is exceeded. A self-diagnosis system helps with fault finding, and a permanently installed program of 4 hours at 160 °C is used for sterilising the interior, not for load items.

Doors, loading and connection

Fully insulated stainless steel doors with 2-point locking (compression door seal) and inner glass doors lead into the interior, which is made of easy-care, deep-drawn, ribbed stainless steel with 4-sided all-round heating; the housing is made of textured stainless steel with a fully galvanised rear panel. Natural ventilation mixes in pre-heated fresh air via an electronically adjustable exhaust air flap. Internal dimensions 1,040 x 720 x 600 mm, external dimensions 1,224 x 1,247 x 784 mm plus 56 mm door handle. Two grid shelves are included as standard, and up to eight shelves are possible at a maximum of 30 kg per shelf and 300 kg total load. The mains connection is 230 V (approx. 1,800 W) or 115 V (approx. 1,500 W), in each case 50/60 Hz.

The IN450m compared

The IN450m of the same size is also a Class I medical device, but serves the heating and keeping warm of fango, silicate and APS packs in physiotherapy and thus has a different intended purpose from the IN450mplus. It is controlled via a SingleDISPLAY with one Pt100 sensor instead of the two displays and redundant sensors of the IN450mplus.

Selection guide

The smaller Memmert Incubator IN260mplus holds 256 litres and allows up to 20 kg per shelf, also with a total load of 300 kg. The largest model in the series is the IN750mplus with 749 litres and up to 14 shelves, also with 30 kg per shelf.
