Memmert Incubator IN55mplus, 53 l, +20 to +80 °C, TwinDISPLAY

With 53 litres, the Memmert Incubator IN55mplus offers slightly more internal space than the smallest model in the series and takes up to four shelves. It is a class I medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745 and is used for warming irrigation and infusion solutions and contrast media. A stainless steel grid shelf is part of the standard scope of delivery.

ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY

Two TFT colour graphic displays belong to the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY, which controls the IN55mplus and is an adaptive digital PID microprocessor controller. The temperature is measured by two Pt100 sensors of DIN class A in 4-wire measurement, which monitor each other; if one fails, the intact sensor takes over the function of the other. The setting temperature range is between +20 and +80 °C with a setting accuracy of 0.1 °C, and the working temperature range starts at least 5 °C above room temperature.

Monitoring and protection

The heating switches off automatically at around 20 °C above the maximum permissible cabinet temperature; a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 to DIN 12880 is responsible for this. In addition, an adjustable temperature monitor of protection class 3.1 or an adjustable temperature limiter of protection class 2 can be set on the display. AutoSAFETY monitors overshoots and undershoots at a freely selectable distance from the setpoint, reports them visually and audibly, and switches the heating off in the event of an overshoot. A self-diagnosis system supports fault finding, and a permanently installed program sterilises the interior (4 hours, 160 °C), not the load.

Functions and data transfer

With the HeatBALANCE function, the heating power can be shifted between the upper and lower heating group in the range from -50 to +50 per cent, and SetpointWAIT starts the process time at the point when the setpoint temperature is reached. Three temperature values can be freely calibrated, and the program sequence remains stored in the event of a power failure. An Ethernet connection and a USB port are available for creating, managing and transferring programs, used with the AtmoCONTROL software.

Construction, loading and connected load

Easy-care stainless steel with deep-drawn ribbing and four-sided all-round heating forms the interior, and the housing is made of textured stainless steel with a fully galvanised sheet steel rear panel. Natural ventilation admixes preheated fresh air via an electronically adjustable flap, and an electronically adjustable throttle valve at the exhaust air port regulates the exhaust air. Internal: 400 x 400 x 330 mm, external: 585 x 784 x 514 mm (plus 56 mm door handle), net weight around 57 kg. A total load of 80 kg is permitted, with a maximum of 20 kg per shelf. Connection is made with 230 V (approx. 1,000 W) or 115 V (approx. 900 W), each 50/60 Hz.

The IN55m compared

The equally sized IN55m has a different intended purpose: warming and keeping warm of fango, silicate and APS packs in physiotherapy, also as a class I medical device. Instead of the two TFT displays and the redundant sensor pairing of the IN55mplus, the IN55m is controlled via a SingleDISPLAY with a single Pt100 sensor.

Selection guide

For smaller quantities, the Memmert Incubator IN30mplus with 32 litres, up to three shelves and 60 kg total load is sufficient. Those who need more space will find it with the IN75mplus with 74 litres, two grid shelves as standard and up to six shelves at 120 kg total load.
