Memmert Incubator IF55m, 53 l, +20 to +80 °C, SingleDISPLAY

The Memmert Incubator Im IF55m has 53 litres internal volume with an internal width of 400 mm, as wide as the IF30m. Like all IF-m models, it is a class I medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745 with the intended purpose of warming and keeping warm of fango, silicate and APS packs in physiotherapy. Compared with the smaller IF30m, the internal height (320 to 400 mm) and internal depth (250 to 330 mm) each grow by 80 mm, and up to four shelves fit in instead of three.

Construction and loading

The internal dimensions of 400 x 400 x 330 mm are in an easy-care, deep-drawn ribbed stainless steel interior with integrated 4-sided all-round heating. One stainless steel grid shelf, electropolished, is part of the scope of delivery, and up to four can be inserted, each 20 kg per shelf, 80 kg in total. The stainless steel door is fully insulated and closes via a 2-point locking system, and the inner glass door keeps the view into the chamber open. Externally, the housing measures 585 x 784 x 514 mm, and the net weight is around 57 kg.

Timer, calibration and data logger

The IF55m is controlled via the ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY with adaptive PID controller and TFT colour graphic display, a Pt100 sensor of DIN class A measures using 4-wire technology, and the setting accuracy is 0.1 °C. The digital countdown timer with target time display can be set from 1 minute to 99 days, and SetpointWAIT only counts the process time once the setpoint temperature has been reached. Three temperature values can be freely calibrated. The data logger is read out via an Ethernet interface, the AtmoCONTROL software is available for this as a time-limited trial version, and it can be obtained permanently as an accessory.

Temperature monitoring

The mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 to DIN 12880 switches the heating off at around 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. In addition, an adjustable electronic monitoring system runs alongside, and a self-diagnosis system helps with troubleshooting.

Distinction from IN-m and IF-mplus

Without forced air circulation, but with the same chamber size and the same intended purpose, the IN55m is available, an incubator with natural convection. The IF55mplus shares the 53 litres, but has a different intended purpose (warming of irrigation and infusion solutions and contrast media) and a TwinDISPLAY with two displays instead of the single SingleDISPLAY.

Selection guide: suitable size

If up to three shelves and a maximum load of 60 kg are enough, the smaller IF30m with 32 litres and a lower, less deep housing (585 x 704 x 434 mm) is sufficient. If more than four grid shelves or more than 80 kg are regularly needed, the IF75m with 74 litres and 120 kg permissible total load is the more suitable step.

For the IF55m, the 115 V voltage variant, extended over-temperature protection and temperature limiting to fixed values between +50 °C and +75 °C, among others, can be selected as factory options when ordering.
