Memmert Incubator IF55mplus, 53 l, +20 to +80 °C, TwinDISPLAY

The Memmert Incubator Im IF55mplus is a class I medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745, with the intended purpose of warming irrigation and infusion solutions and contrast media. The 53 litre chamber lies between the smallest and the middle model of the mplus series and is suitable for smaller quantities. A stainless steel grid shelf is included as standard, and up to four shelves are possible.

Control, HeatBALANCE and program transfer

Two mutually monitoring Pt100 sensors of DIN class A work in 4-wire measurement and, in the event of a fault, automatically take over the function of the other. The setting accuracy is 0.1 °C with a setting temperature range of +20 to +80 °C. The ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY with two TFT colour graphic displays controls the cabinet, and the HeatBALANCE function adjusts the heating power distribution between the upper and lower heating group in the range from -50 to +50 per cent. Via the Ethernet interface or USB port, programs can be created, managed and transferred with the AtmoCONTROL software, and the program sequence is stored in the event of a power failure. The SetpointWAIT function only starts the process time once the setpoint temperature has been reached, and three temperature values can be freely calibrated.

Safety technology

The mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 to DIN 12880 switches the heating off at approx. 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. In addition, an adjustable temperature monitor of protection class 3.1 or an adjustable temperature limiter of protection class 2 can be selected on the display. The AutoSAFETY monitoring follows the setpoint at a freely selectable distance, reports deviations visually and audibly, and switches the heating off when exceeded. A self-diagnosis system helps with fault finding. A fully insulated stainless steel door with 2-point locking (compression door seal) and an inner glass door close the chamber, and the stainless steel interior is stiffened by deep-drawn ribbing and has protected, integrated 4-sided all-round heating. The permanently installed sterilisation program (4 h at 160 °C) is used for sterilising the interior and is not intended for sterilising the load.

Ventilation, connection and dimensions

The air turbine is electronically adjustable in 10 % steps and runs quietly, and preheated fresh air is admixed via the electronically adjustable exhaust air flap. The IF55mplus is operated with 230 V at approx. 1,000 W or with 115 V at approx. 900 W, each 50/60 Hz. The internal dimensions are 400 x 400 x 330 mm, the housing measures 585 x 784 x 514 mm externally, and the net weight is around 57 kg. A total of up to 80 kg and 20 kg per shelf may be loaded.

Distinction from the SingleDISPLAY variant and the laboratory device

We carry the IF55m as the SingleDISPLAY variant with only one Pt100 sensor, also a class I medical device, but with a different intended purpose: warming and keeping warm of fango, silicate and APS packs in physiotherapy. The IF55mplus differs from it in the TwinDISPLAY, the two redundant sensors, HeatBALANCE, AutoSAFETY and the adjustable temperature monitor or limiter selectable on the display. Without a medical intended purpose, but with technically comparable equipment, the IF55plus is also available as a laboratory incubator of the same chamber size.

Selection guide: smaller or larger chamber

Those who can manage with less volume will find the smallest size in the series in the IF30mplus with 32 litres. If 53 litres are not enough, the IF75mplus with 74 litres and up to six shelves offers more capacity.
