With 256 litres internal volume and up to nine shelves, the Memmert Incubator IN260m lies in the IN-m series between the IN160m and the IN450m. As a class I medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745, it warms and keeps warm fango, silicate and APS packs for physiotherapy, and the total load goes up to 300 kg with two electropolished stainless steel grid shelves as standard.
Controller, sensor and timer
An adaptive, multifunctional PID microprocessor controller with a high-resolution TFT colour graphic display is built into the ControlCOCKPIT SingleDISPLAY, and measurement is made via a Pt100 sensor of DIN class A using 4-wire technology with 0.1 °C setting accuracy. The digital countdown timer can be set between 1 minute and 99 days, SetpointWAIT delays the start of the process time until the setpoint temperature has been reached, and three temperature values can be freely calibrated.
Ventilation, safety and diagnostics
Preheated fresh air enters the naturally ventilated interior via an electronically adjustable exhaust air flap, and the exhaust air port regulates the exhaust air via an equally electronically adjustable throttle valve. At around 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature, a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 to DIN 12880 switches the heating off, and an adjustable electronic temperature monitoring system and a self-diagnosis system for fault finding are added.
Data logging
If the power fails, the program sequence remains stored. The data logger is read out, managed and organised via Ethernet with the time-limited trial version of AtmoCONTROL, and a USB stick with the software is available as an accessory.
Loading, interior and connection
Two electropolished stainless steel grid shelves are included as standard, and up to nine shelves fit at 20 kg per shelf and 300 kg total load. The interior is made of easy-care, deep-drawn ribbed stainless steel with integrated 4-sided all-round heating, and the fully insulated stainless steel door has a 2-point locking system with compression door seal and an inner glass door. Internally, the IN260m measures 640 x 800 x 500 mm, externally 824 x 1,183 x 684 mm plus 56 mm door handle, and it weighs around 110 kg net. Connection is made with 230 V at approx. 1,700 W or with 115 V at approx. 900 W, each 50/60 Hz.
Distinction from the IN260 and IN260mplus
Without a medical intended purpose, LT Laborhandel offers the equally sized Memmert Incubator IN260. The IN260mplus also holds 256 litres, but shows its values via a ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY instead of SingleDISPLAY and has a different intended purpose: warming irrigation and infusion solutions and contrast media.
Selection guide: which size fits
The smaller IN160m reaches 161 litres, eight shelves and 210 kg total load. With the larger IN450m, the total load stays the same at 300 kg, but up to 30 instead of 20 kg per shelf is allowed, with eight instead of nine shelves.
