Memmert Universal oven UF160mplus, 161 l, +20 to +300 °C, TwinDISPLAY

The Memmert Universal oven UF160mplus is a Class I medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745 with the intended purpose of heating and keeping warm fango, silicate and APS packs in physiotherapy. With 161 litres of internal volume and up to 8 shelves, it offers, with the same internal width of 560 mm, significantly more shelf positions than the UF110mplus with 5.

Temperature control for heavy loads

Temperature is controlled via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY with two TFT colour graphic displays and measured by two redundant Pt100 sensors of DIN class A with 4-wire measurement. The setting accuracy is 0.1 °C up to a setpoint temperature of 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C, and the setting temperature range extends from +20 to +300 °C. With the HeatBALANCE function, the heating power distribution between the upper and lower heating group can be adjusted from -50 to +50 %. The electronically controllable air turbine works in 10 % steps, and programs are managed via the Ethernet interface or USB port with AtmoCONTROL.

Temperature control with multiple safeguards

A mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 according to DIN 12880 switches off the heating at around 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. In addition, an adjustable temperature monitor of protection class 3.1 or an adjustable temperature limiter of protection class 2 can be activated on the display, and the AutoSAFETY function automatically monitors over- and under-temperature with a visual and audible alarm. A self-diagnosis system assists with fault finding, and three temperature values can be freely calibrated.

Loading, connection and dimensions

2 electropolished stainless steel grid shelves are included as standard, and the unit can be expanded to up to 8 shelves. The permissible total load is 210 kg at 20 kg per shelf. Connection is at 230 V with approx. 3,200 W or at 115 V with approx. 1,800 W, in each case at 50/60 Hz. The internal dimensions are 560 x 720 x 400 mm and the external dimensions 745 x 1,104 x 584 mm, and the net weight is around 96 kg.

Distinction: physiotherapy unit and laboratory oven UF160plus

The laboratory unit of the same size is the Memmert universal oven UF160plus with 161 litres and TwinDISPLAY, intended for laboratory and industrial processes such as drying or annealing and without a medical intended purpose. In the same size and with the same intended purpose, the UF160m is available as a Class I medical device in the SingleDISPLAY version with one Pt100 sensor. The UF160mplus, by contrast, has the TwinDISPLAY and two Pt100 sensors that monitor each other, plus the adjustable temperature monitor or adjustable temperature limiter selectable on the display and AutoSAFETY, as well as the HeatBALANCE function.

Selection guide: assessing the right capacity

The next smaller Memmert universal oven UF110mplus has 108 litres, up to five shelves and a 175 kg total load. The next larger UF260mplus offers 256 litres, up to nine shelves and a 300 kg total load, but with external dimensions of 824 x 1,183 x 684 mm it also needs more floor space than the UF160mplus with 745 x 1,104 x 584 mm.
