Memmert universal oven UF55mplus, 53 l, +20 to +300 °C, TwinDISPLAY

The Memmert universal oven UF55mplus is the second-smallest size in the mplus series and a Class I medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745. Its intended purpose is exclusively the heating and keeping warm of fango, silicate and APS packs in physiotherapy. With 53 litres of internal volume and up to four shelves, it offers more space than the UF30mplus with 32 litres and three shelves.

TwinDISPLAY control with HeatBALANCE

Control is via the ControlCOCKPIT TwinDISPLAY with two high-resolution TFT colour graphic displays, and the unit can be programmed via the Ethernet interface or USB port using the AtmoCONTROL software. Two Pt100 sensors of DIN class A with 4-wire measurement monitor each other and automatically take over the function of the other in the event of a fault. The setting accuracy is 0.1 °C up to a setpoint temperature of 99.9 °C and 0.5 °C from 100 °C. From this size, the HeatBALANCE function is added: the heating power distribution between the upper and lower heating group can be adjusted from -50 to +50 %. The electronically controllable air turbine works in 10 % steps, and an electronically adjustable exhaust air flap admixes preheated fresh air.

Temperature monitoring and safety

Protection is provided by a mechanical temperature limiter of protection class 1 according to DIN 12880, which switches off the heating at around 20 °C above the maximum cabinet temperature. In addition, an adjustable temperature monitor of protection class 3.1 or an adjustable temperature limiter of protection class 2 can be selected on the display. The AutoSAFETY function automatically monitors over- and under-temperature at a freely selectable distance from the setpoint and reports deviations visually and audibly, and a self-diagnosis system helps with troubleshooting. Three freely selectable temperature values can be calibrated, and the unit is delivered factory-calibrated at 160 °C.

Loading, connection and dimensions

One electropolished stainless steel grid shelf is included as standard, and up to 4 shelves in total are possible. The permissible total load is 80 kg and 20 kg per shelf. Connection is at 230 V with approx. 2,000 W or optionally at 115 V with approx. 1,700 W, in each case at 50/60 Hz. The internal dimensions are 400 x 400 x 330 mm and the external dimensions 585 x 784 x 514 mm, with a net weight of around 57 kg.

Distinction: physiotherapy unit and laboratory oven UF55plus

The laboratory unit of the same size is the Memmert universal oven UF55plus with 53 litres and TwinDISPLAY, intended for laboratory and industrial applications such as drying and tempering and without a medical intended purpose. In the same size and with the same intended purpose, the UF55m is available as a Class I medical device in the SingleDISPLAY version with one Pt100 sensor. The UF55mplus, by contrast, has the TwinDISPLAY and two Pt100 sensors that monitor each other, plus the adjustable temperature monitor or adjustable temperature limiter selectable on the display and AutoSAFETY, as well as the HeatBALANCE function.

Selection guide: which size suits the practice?

The next smaller size is the UF30mplus with 32 litres, a maximum of three shelves and a total load of 60 kg. If you regularly need more than four shelves, you are better served by the Memmert universal oven UF75mplus which offers 74 litres, up to six shelves and a total load of 120 kg. The UF55mplus sits in between with 53 litres, four shelves and 80 kg.
