Design meets precision: the IKA PETTE fix 20 µl for the most demanding requirements With the IKA PETTE fix 20 µl (MPN 0020011221), you can bring a touch of award-winning design and uncompromising functionality into your laboratory. This mechanical air-cushion pipette with a fixed volume of 20 µl has been specially developed for users who refuse to compromise on routine tasks. The fixed volume offers maximum reliability: adjustment errors, which can occur in the hectic day-to-day life of a laboratory, are ruled out by the pipette’s design. This makes the pipette the ideal tool for standardised processes in PCR, clinical diagnostics or analytical chemistry, where exactly 20 µl is required. Ergonomics reimagined: the interchangeable grip concept What sets the IKA PETTE series apart from all other pipettes on the market is its revolutionary ergonomic design. IKA supplies each pipette with three interchangeable grip recesses in different sizes and materials. Whether you have small or large hands, or are right- or left-handed – this pipette adapts to you, not the other way round. The special geometry enables a hand-friendly grip that minimises pressure on the thumb and palm. This is a crucial factor in preventing RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) during long pipetting sessions. The tip ejection mechanism is designed to be operated with minimal effort, which further reduces strain on the hand muscles. DLC coating: high-tech for durability Inside the IKA PETTE fix lies technology derived from high-performance mechanical engineering. The piston and tip cone are coated with DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon). This extremely hard, diamond-like carbon coating not only makes the moving parts incredibly wear-resistant but also ensures they glide smoothly. Friction is minimised, which not only reduces the operating force required but also ensures that the pipette retains its calibration and precision even after thousands of cycles. Furthermore, DLC is extremely corrosion-resistant – aggressive media or vapours can hardly affect the internal components. Robust, Shock-Resistant and UV-Resistant Laboratory equipment has to withstand a great deal. The IKA PETTE fix is therefore manufactured from high-quality, chemically resistant plastics. The housing is UV-resistant and shock-resistant. Should the pipette accidentally roll off the laboratory bench, its robust construction will generally withstand this mishap without any impairment to its function. For sterile working environments, the entire pipette is fully autoclavable (at 121 °C) without the need for time-consuming disassembly beforehand. This saves valuable time and reduces the risk of contamination. Extremely simple maintenance and calibration IKA has also taken maintenance into account. The volume unit can be detached from the handle in just a few simple steps, making cleaning straightforward. Should recalibration be necessary – for example, as part of test equipment monitoring in accordance with ISO 8655 – this can be carried out without tools (!). This is a huge advantage over many competing products, which require special wrenches. The large, easy-to-read display clearly shows the nominal volume, thereby ruling out any mix-ups on the pipette rack. Universal compatibility The tip cone of the IKA PETTE fix is designed to be compatible with pipette tips from most major manufacturers. This means you are not tied to a proprietary system, but can continue to use your existing standard tips (suitable for the 20 µl or 200 µl range, often yellow-coded). The standard for 100 µl routines: IKA PETTE fix The IKA PETTE fix 100 µl (MPN 0020011224) is the workhorse for all standard laboratory applications. The 100-microlitre volume is found in almost every protocol – whether setting up enzyme reactions, adding buffers or preparing samples for HPLC. This is precisely where this fixed-volume pipette comes into its own: it offers absolute protection against adjustment errors and delivers accurate results day in, day out. Thanks to its high-quality construction and ergonomic design, it is the perfect choice for laboratories that prioritise durability, precision and staff wellbeing. Ergonomics that adapts One-size-fits-all solutions do not work in the laboratory, as every user has individual needs. IKA therefore supplies every PETTE fix with three interchangeable handles (sizes XS/S, M, L). Personalised fit: Whether you have small or large hands, changing the handle ensures the pipette always fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. Stress-free working: The optimised design ensures that all controls (piston button, ejector) are accessible without having to reposition your hand. This minimises muscle tension and actively prevents RSI (repetitive strain injury), even during long pipetting sessions. Durability thanks to DLC technology To ensure that the pipette remains precise even after years of intensive use, IKA relies on high-tech materials. The dosing piston and tip cone are coated with DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon). This diamond-like carbon coating offers key advantages: Wear protection: The extremely hard surface is resistant to mechanical abrasion. The seal remains intact even after tens of thousands of cycles. Smooth operation: DLC has excellent sliding properties. Friction is minimised, which noticeably reduces the thumb force required during pipetting. Corrosion resistance: The coating effectively protects the stainless steel against aggressive chemicals, acids and salts. Hygiene without compromise: Fully autoclavable In molecular biology and microbiology, sterility is essential. The IKA PETTE fix 100 µl is designed so that it can be fully autoclaved (121 °C, 20 min) – whilst fully assembled. There is no need for the tedious and error-prone task of dismantling the pipette before sterilisation. This saves valuable working time and guarantees that no germs or traces of DNA are carried over. The high-performance plastics used are also UV-resistant and robust against common disinfectants. Universal compatibility (yellow tips) The tip cone of the IKA PETTE fix 100 µl is compatible with the widely used standard pipette tips (usually colour-coded yellow, up to 200 µl) from all major manufacturers. You are not tied to expensive specialised tips, but can continue to use your tried-and-tested consumables seamlessly. The cone is also designed to be impact-resistant, which reduces repair costs in the event of accidental drops. Maintenance and Calibration Maintaining the IKA PETTE is extremely simple. The device can be cleaned in just a few simple steps if required. Should recalibration be necessary – for example, for liquids with high viscosity or density – you can carry this out yourself without the need for tools. A red indicator shows when the factory setting has been altered, which is important for GMP/GLP-compliant work. Technical data Type: Mechanical air-cushion pipette Design: Single-channel, fixed-volume Nominal volume: 100 µl Accuracy: ±0.6 % / ±0.6 µl (exceeds ISO 8655) Precision: ±0.2% / ±0.2 µl Piston material: Stainless steel with DLC coating Tip cone: DLC-coated, universal (for 200 µl tips) Autoclavable: Yes, fully (121 °C) without dismantling Ergonomics: Includes 3 interchangeable handles Weight: approx. 88 g Contents 1 x IKA PETTE fix 100 µl 3 x interchangeable handles (various sizes) 1 x calibration tool (for user adjustment) 1 x tube of silicone grease 1 x Quality certificate 1 x User manual Customised requirements & accessories Do you need suitable filter tips (200 µl) for contamination-free work, or the practical LINEA pipette holder for wall or shelf mounting? The precision benchmark for 50 µl: IKA PETTE fix The IKA PETTE fix 50 µl (MPN 0020011223) sets a new benchmark for mechanical air-cushion pipettes in everyday laboratory work. The 50-microlitre volume is one of the most commonly used dispensing volumes in chemistry, biology and medical diagnostics – whether for dilution series, preparing buffer solutions or adding reagents in standard assays. The IKA PETTE fix was developed specifically for these high-frequency applications. It combines absolute repeatability with ergonomics that actively counteract signs of fatigue. As a fixed-volume model, it eliminates the risk of setting errors and guarantees that every pipetting operation delivers exactly the defined volume – an indispensable advantage for standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ergonomics reimagined: the interchangeable handle system Arguably the most striking feature of the IKA PETTE series is its adaptability. A ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach rarely works for hand tools, as every user has different anatomical characteristics. IKA therefore supplies each pipette with three interchangeable grip inserts. These grips differ in size and shape. They can be swapped without tools and allow the pipette to be individually tailored to the user’s hand size (small, medium, large). The advantage: the pipette sits comfortably and naturally in the hand. The centre of gravity is optimally balanced. Gripping the discharge button requires no repositioning of the hand or stretching of the thumb. This significantly reduces muscle strain and helps prevent the dreaded RSI syndrome (‘mouse arm’ or ‘pipetting arm’), even during long pipetting sessions. High-tech materials for maximum service life A pipette is a precision instrument that is subjected to heavy mechanical stress. To ensure long-term accuracy, IKA relies on DLC-coated components. DLC stands for ‘Diamond-Like Carbon’. Both the dispensing piston and the tip cone (tip seat) are finished with this extremely hard material. The advantages of this technology are immense: Extreme hardness: The coating makes the moving parts resistant to abrasion. Even after tens of thousands of strokes, the system seals perfectly. Low friction: DLC has excellent sliding properties. This means you need to exert significantly less force to press the plunger down. This is easier on your thumb. Chemical resistance: The surface is inert and withstands aggressive vapours, acids or alkalis better than conventional stainless steel. Uncompromising hygiene: Fully autoclavable In sensitive fields such as molecular biology (PCR) or microbiology, sterility is paramount. Many pipettes have to be laboriously dismantled before they can be placed in the autoclave – often with the risk of small parts being lost or seals being damaged. The IKA PETTE fix 50 µl is fully autoclavable (at 121 °C for 20 minutes). You simply place the entire instrument in the steriliser. This saves valuable time and ensures maximum protection against contamination. In addition, the housing material is UV-resistant, which also allows for sterilisation under the UV lamp of a clean bench. Easy maintenance and calibration Should it nevertheless ever be necessary to service or clean the pipette (e.g. because liquid has been drawn into the shaft), the design is extremely user-friendly. The pipette can be dismantled in just a few simple steps. The piston and seal are easily accessible. Should an adjustment be necessary – for example, because you are pipetting liquids with a density that differs significantly from that of water (e.g. glycerine) – you can carry this out without tools. The calibration volume can be easily adjusted without having to send the device in for servicing. Universal compatibility The tip cone of the IKA PETTE fix 50 µl is designed to be compatible with pipette tips from almost all leading manufacturers. You are not forced to buy expensive proprietary tips, but can continue to use your existing standard tips (usually the yellow 200 µl tips). The cone is also shock-resistant, which minimises the need for costly repairs should it be accidentally dropped. Design and readability The award-winning design (German Design Award, iF Design Award) combines aesthetics with functionality. A large display shows the nominal volume “50 µl” clearly and distinctly. As this is a fixed-volume pipette, this display is static – which rules out any confusion in the hectic day-to-day of laboratory work. Every time you pick up the pipette, you can be sure: “That’s 50 µl, nothing else.” Technical data Type: Mechanical air-cushion pipette Design: Single-channel, fixed-volume Nominal volume: 50 µl Accuracy: ±0.4% / ±0.2 µl (more accurate than ISO 8655) Precision: ±0.2% / ±0.1 µl Piston material: Stainless steel with DLC coating Cone: DLC-coated, universal fit Autoclavable: Yes, fully (121 °C) Ergonomics: 3 interchangeable handles included Weight: approx. 87 g Recommended tips: Standard 200 µl (yellow) Contents 1 x IKA PETTE fix 50 µl 3 x interchangeable handles (XS/S/M-L) 1 x calibration tool (for user adjustment) 1 x tube of silicone grease 1 x Quality certificate 1 x User manual Customised requirements & accessories Are you looking for suitable pipette tips in bulk packs or racks? Or do you need the ergonomic LINEA pipette stand for your workstation? We’d be happy to advise you. Please contact our procurement service.
Ergonomics meets precision: the IKA PETTE fix 25 µl The IKA PETTE fix 25 µl (MPN 0020011222) is far more than just a simple dosing instrument. It is the result of intensive ergonomic studies and innovations in materials science. In modern laboratories, where staff often carry out hundreds of pipetting operations a day, precision and physical comfort are inextricably linked. With the PETTE series, IKA has created a pipette that not only delivers exact volumes but also fits perfectly in the user’s hand – whether they are right- or left-handed, and regardless of hand size. As a fixed-volume variant with a 25 µl capacity, this model is ideally suited to high-frequency routine tasks in diagnostics, molecular biology or analytical chemistry, where accidental adjustment of the volume must be prevented. Personalised ergonomics through interchangeable grips A truly unique selling point of the IKA PETTE series is its adaptability. Every hand is different. A pipette that fits a large hand perfectly may feel awkward for a small hand. IKA solves this problem with three interchangeable grips in various shapes and sizes, which are included in the scope of delivery. These grips can be changed in just a few simple steps. This ensures that the pipette always sits perfectly in the palm of the hand, that the ejection button is easily accessible, and that muscle strain (RSI syndrome) is effectively prevented. The ejection button itself is multifunctional: it is used for dispensing and ejecting the tip, with the force required minimised thanks to an intelligent mechanism. High-tech materials: DLC coating The inner workings of the IKA PETTE fix are designed for extreme durability. The piston and tip cone are coated with DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon). What does this mean for you? DLC is an extremely hard, diamond-like form of carbon. It makes the components: Wear-resistant: Precision is maintained even after thousands of cycles. Low-friction: The piston glides smoothly, significantly reducing the thumb force required. Corrosion-resistant: The coating is chemically inert and withstands aggressive media far better than bare stainless steel. Uncompromising hygiene: Fully autoclavable Hygiene is non-negotiable in the laboratory. Many pipettes must be dismantled before they can be placed in the autoclave – this takes time and carries the risk that they may be reassembled incorrectly or become out of calibration afterwards. The IKA PETTE fix 25 µl is fully autoclavable (121 °C, 20 min) without needing to be dismantled. This makes decontamination child’s play and ensures safety. Furthermore, the plastics used are UV-resistant and chemical-resistant, enabling trouble-free cleaning with standard laboratory disinfectants. Robustness and Design The design of the IKA PETTE has been honoured with the German Design Award and the iF Design Award. Yet here, form follows function: the large display clearly shows the nominal volume (25 µl), preventing mix-ups in the hectic day-to-day routine. The tip cone is designed to be compatible with pipette tips from most major manufacturers. This means you are not tied to expensive specialised tips, but can continue to use your usual consumables. Maintenance and calibration made easy Should recalibration be necessary (e.g. for special liquids with different viscosities), this can be carried out on the IKA PETTE without the need for tools. This saves time and avoids external service costs. The pipette is designed so that the piston and seal are easily accessible for cleaning or lubrication (using the silicone grease supplied). Why fixed-volume? In standardised processes (SOPs), such as the addition of enzymes or reagents to PCR master mixes, the fixed-volume pipette is often superior to the variable-volume pipette. Error-proofing: The volume cannot be accidentally adjusted. Speed: No time is lost adjusting the volume. Calibration stability: As there is no adjustment mechanism, the design is more robust and less prone to drift. Technical data Type: Mechanical air-cushion pipette Type: Single-channel, fixed-volume Nominal volume: 25 µl Accuracy (systematic error): ±0.5 % / ±0.125 µl (better than ISO 8655) Precision (random error): ±0.2 % / ±0.05 µl Piston material: Stainless steel with DLC coating Tip cone: Universal fit (grey, suitable for standard tips up to 200 µl) Autoclavable: Yes, fully (121 °C) Ergonomics: 3 interchangeable handles included Weight: approx. 86 g Contents 1 x IKA PETTE fix 25 µl 3 x interchangeable grips (various sizes/shapes) 1 x calibration tool (for special adjustments) 1 x silicone grease 1 x Quality certificate 1 x operating instructions Customised requirements & accessories Do you need suitable pipette tips (sterile/non-sterile, with filter) or a suitable pipette stand (LINEA) for safe storage?
